Adding new category for brushes PSP X8

Post by mytime2626 »

Been using PSP since X3 but I just recently started playing around with brushes.
Just wondering if there is anyway to create new Category for brushes in PSP X8. Hoping to find some info on the web, hoping someone here may have an answer.
Seems that the brush window can get cluttered up quickly when adding new or custom brushes off the web.
Thought that this would make it easier to locate custom and imported brushes.
Having category like 'Smoke' for just that type of brushes.
Thank you in advance for any help

Open the Presets on the brushes toolbar, and in that dialogue click on the Resource Manager icon. In the Resource Manager click on Help. Scroll down to the bottom of the help page that opens and it will give you instructions on how to create new categories.

I create a folder with the name of the brush(es) in the custom brushes folder. If the brushes are Pspbrushes I just pop them into the folder. Remember there needs to be a script and brush file in order for the brush to be seen and function.

If the brushes are downloaded from the net and have are an .abr, use File / Import / Custom Brush. Click on Edit Paths, select Brushes from the left panel and PaintShop Brushes folder on the right panel.

Below is Save to: Make sure Brushes is selected then click Create Sub Folder. Name the folder of the brushes you are importing. Make sure this folder is highlighted.
Click OK. Now you are back to Import Custom Brush, click Open and find the .abr. Either choose a few of the brushes or click on Add for all brush tips. Click OK.

Your new brushes will be saved into the new folder and ready for you to use when you use the Brush Category drop down box.
