Instant Project/Batch processing

Post by csleep1958 »

Hello…I am new to this board and also Corel video suite x6. I bought the software in order to make 3 slide shows in the next year for special occasions. I have just had the software for a few days, love it, but I do have questions that I cannot figure out.

1. In instant project: is there a way to add more placeholders? I have about 200 photos that I’d like to use in my slideshows.
2. Batch processing: Is there a way to add transitions in batches other than drop one by one. Is there a way to set auto pan and zoom to a batch of photos instead of clicking on each photo?

Thank you… :D

Don't use instant project, so can't help with it. Select the set of media (click on the first one, then shift click on the last one) then add a transition or select pan&zoom and it should go to all the selected media.

Ohhh thank you so much! This is the same process for the duration time for a batch of photos as well......I should have thought to check this process for for transition and pan/zoom!!. This software is a learning curve and I am sure having a blast with it so far! I'd truly appreciate if anyone had an answer to my question about adding more placeholders in instant project if its possible though...thank you...

There's an icon at top of the Transitions folder as to add different ones to all your project. See the attached file.

csleep,

As far as I'm concern, you can add as many Placeholders you need into an Instant Project. One way is to copy everything you have on your timeline by clicking on the first Placeholder, hold Shift Key and click on the last Placeholder. Once the selection is done copy it and paste it after the last Placeholder. To succeed with this, you have to copy each track one by one, paste it at the end of each and adjust when necessary. But for me, I find it easier to simply insert the same Instant Project or any other one on the timeline.

See this link as example (Project for csleep) : https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=1 ... lder%2cjpg

Hi

Quick Slide Show

Go to F6 preferences Edit set Photo duration and Transition durations that you require.
set default transition type to the one you wish to use, maybe FX crossfade. (8 sec for images and 2 for transitions)

OK

1 / First if you wish to use Instant projects as an intro add that first, you will have to manually replace the placeholders used in the IP.
because of that it is inappropriate to add additional images as place holders.

2 / Add all images this will also insert transitions

3 / Add pan and zoom to first image

4 / right click that image and choose copy attributes
5 / Shift click last image for paste Attributes--all P&Z applied

6 / add audio where appropriate.

7 / if you wish to fine tune the total slide show duration to match audio, Shift + Click images to select all, right click for Change photo duration, adjusting all images by a frame or two

Fast Flick may do what you want as we can add many images that are automatically incorporated in the project.
I prefer to do slide shows manually as explained above

For csleep : Since you're new to Corel VideoStudio, Trevor has given you the easiest way to complete your slide show. If you wish to use Instant Project Library all the way of your project, it takes more time as Trevor wrote.

In the Preferences / Edit tab, don't forget to check the box for automatic transitions insertion.

Jaro....thank you for taking the time to post the link... I downloaded the second file " Csleep project vs"...vs opened but then disappeared instantly..but....I did your copy/paste placeholder suggestion, and that worked wonderfully!! Trevor/Jaro...I finally figured out, in Edit, how to expand the duration and also adding transitions throughout the slideshow..also figured out how to pan/zoom in the batch of photos in slideshow as well.......thank you Trevor for your great input!...though...I am not sure what fast click is??

Since my post: As I stated I was working on a "test" slideshow. I was able to create a 2 minute test by the help of all your inputs...thank you! I didn't use instant project with this test as it was already in progress... I did a manual test using just photos and titles...all panned and zoomed with nice transitions....no audio though...next test :)...I successfully burned the project onto a CD and played it in a blue-ray...came out great!

Next Question: I would like to add some text to a lot of my photos during the slideshow..... I noticed that if I drop photos into the timeline ...the text does not stay in line with the corresponding photo..everything become off kilter.....I watched a tube video which stated to "lock" the text track (clicking on the little lock) and all text would stay in sync with its picture.... but this did not work. Maybe he left out another step out in order for this to work?....any suggestions to this???

Once I get this answered....I will attempt another test slideshow before diving into the big ones!

Thanks once more!!

My mistake....the lock DOES work for keeping the text in place...however....for some reason....which prompted my question... I was attempting to drop a photo before the last picture, which has text, in the slideshow. The text on the last picture didn't move...so....after my post.... I went back and tried dropping a photo in many other places along the strip and it worked fine! ...text moved....text just won't move on that last photo putting a new one before it.......strange..

Hi
First Fast Flick is a plugin provided by Video Studio, but I am not sure which version provided this, maybe X7, I will check on X6. Sorry for any confusion?

FastFlick is a bit of a wizard, add Images or Video and it automatically creates the project for you, No Placeholders -- there are quite a few templates to choose from, however it may take a few attempts to choose the right one. It will do auto pan and zoom but not necessarily on the right direction for the image?

The process to lock the timelines is called Ripple Editing
Your attempt to lock the last clip, it may have been that the text covered two clips, that could interfere with the clip reposition?
Ripple Editing certainly does help but is not magic and does need a bit of use to understand just what it can do.

I also downloaded the file provided by JaRo, no problems with that template.
Did you download the Zip folder or individual files?
Nice job JaRo

Hi Guys

JaRo I think you are using X8
I have created a copy of the IP with X6 so csleep you should be able to open, download the folder, Unzip the file and add the entire folder to :-

C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate

The template should then show in the Instant Projects library - custom page.

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=1 ... file%2czip

JaRo, you should also be able to open this with X8

Hello Lata......I successfully downloaded your folder into my Corel and was able to view it! First, thank your for taking the time to create this for me! Jaro...thank you as well...I finally was able to view yours after the instructions! You both are very kind! I understand now how to add to an existing instant project when needed and have them saved in custom templates to view when needed.

Lata...after reading your post about fast click, I googled it because I was curious...nice feature! But...I am using x6 which doesn't come with it....its offered in x7 and higher most likely..

Ripple Editing...I was able to educate myself on this within days of getting the software, I didn't find it to confusing, so I decided to use it in my project. Lata...I will take your suggestion about the text covering two clips and see if that was the issue.

I have begun my slideshow of 307 pictures! I am carefully thinking it out as to how I would like to present this. Its for a retirement party this summer...in which I plan on letting the slideshow loop repeatedly throughout the day. I finished cleaning up all my pictures and imported them into my library. I am soooo thankful I can organize them there in the order I want! I am secondly thankful for the ability to drop them all at once into the timeline when finished!!....from there I will add fade in and out, transitions, text on selected pictures and title screens for chapters in the slideshow...no music though...it will be a loud party :)...I am practicing on the title screens on my test project...so far so good, everything is working out and staying in line...

Now that I know how instant project works and how manually works......I have to agree that with these many photos...manually is the way to go...instant will come in handy for under 50 pictures, video clips and such...but for a large project manual is the way to go..

Again, thank you all....!!
