Sound Annotation box disappears

I am using CD and DVD Pictureshow 3.0 . Here is the symptom:

When I click on the Microphone icon in Advanced Audio Settings, the dialog box with the Sound Meter appears. It contains a Start and Cancel button. However, when I am ready to begin recording and click on the Start button, the dialog box disappears and the recording never starts. The box just goes away!

Has anyone else seen this problem and possibly have a solution?

There might be something wrong with your installation of PictureShow. Uninstall the software from the Add/Remove Software section of Control Panel.

When you install a software, the installer extracts temporary files needed for the installation on a temp folder. These folders are usually:
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp

If the temp folder holds old installer files that may be corrupted or are duplicates with the same filename but are used for a different software, it could cause a problem for your new installation of the software. Before you reinstall the software, make sure to clean the Temp folders.

The Local Settings folder is a hidden folder so you have to enable Windows Explorer to see hidden files and folders. Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and check show hidden files and folders. You can now open the Temp folder from the Documents and Settings folder and delete the files there before you make a new install.
