swf files no longer work in X8 Ultimate

Hi

Really annoying problem, for some reason the sample videos etc no longer work!

I get an error message.

When we had a previous user with the same problem Corel provided a "one off" fix - only problem is it was for X9 - but it may be worth a try on your system

it doesn't seem to want to attach to the forum - maybe to big - I'll add it to an e-mail to you Mike

forum e-mail wouldn't let me attach a zip - so it's coming from my personal e-mail

Hi Mike

A strange behaviour where the re-link seems to target other versions, especially for clips installed with the Contents package, I think, for you its looking for X7.
The first few clips being installed by the Main program targets X8?

You will have to reset the program by re-naming the 18.0 folder.

You could however try installing the Contents file again, maybe that will overwrite the library content. Would be interesting to know if that fixes things.

Installing that may also reset the library loosing your personal pages.

I would do a Library Manager Export to save a copy, even so may not work when importing again.

Hi Brian, thanks for the file, sadly when I ran it I got a message saying the version could not be determined and it made no changes.
Hmm also got this when I tried to run the service pack for x8.

Not looking good

I re installed the content and it did reset all my libraries and did not fix the issue FFS

You could try installing Corel VideoStudio X8.5 Hotfix 2 again.

Re-running the hotfix solved the issue.
Now all I need to know is how to get all my libraries back.

I keep regular full system backups, does anyone know where the files are that can restore my projects etc?

All of your files are where they were - stored on your hard drive


All of your projects are where they always were - opening a .vsp file should restore every thing to your timeline

only the libraries may have been emptied - but that is not your files - only thumbnails .

Not sure where your personalised libraries are - buried in a .dat file some where

OK Brian, I could I guess risk recovering all the data files in app data but that might make things worse.
I had about 6 projects that had been complied, all these are wiped out and all I have left are Samples and Triple Scoop music

Well you could open those projects and then just drag and drop from the timeline into blank media file libraries to re-populate them

Hi Mike

Your Project files the VSP’s should still be on your pc and as Brian says should / can be used again. Deleting the library will not affect the projects.

Where did you save the VSP files, do a search of your pc.

If you have backed up this folder you should be able to replace the folder.
Please first make a copy of the original by re-naming to 15.0_old.

C:\Users\User name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\15.0

The folder is hidden by the operating system.
Add %Appdata% to the start search box to locate “roaming” folder

That should re-instate the old workstation and libraries as backed up.
