VSX9 has many bugs in cutting audio functions

Post by solarkritik »

Sorry, but VSX9 has many bugs, when you are cutting audiofiles.
I can't describe the many little bugs in this new version X9.
There are handling-bugs and also one "heavy bug", so that VSX9 is stopping its work. You can't continue the programm.

And the heavierst bug: The function of "automatically saving" in i.e. "3 minutes" does not work in VSX9, too

Big ***...

Hi

Sorry you are having problems but if you don’t or can’t describe the problems then it makes it difficult for us to help you, you just leave us guessing?

If your audio are Mp3 using the Lame codec then that has caused problems for video editors.
The advice is to convert your audio to Wav.
If you are not using MP3 then I think I have just wasted my time typing this reply., and yes I had a bad morning…

So can you give more details.

Auto Save
This function saves the changes you have made to the project, however they are saved to a Cache file and used to recover the project after a program fail.
It does not save or update the VSP project file.
But difficult to prove it works one way or another, I choose to save my projects on a regular basis File -Save and do not rely on the Auto Save option.

Program installation, after which check F6 Preferences that the TV standard Pal or NTSC is set correctly, I assume you would use Pal?

Good that you gave information what and how you wanted to work with your audios.
VS was never perfect , but X9 is not worse than the older ones you have , in handling audio. No change was made.

*** Regarding your 3min "unsave" , if it happen that VS crashes before the first 3 min, what will it save?

Suggest if you wish to play with audio files, you use an external editor such as Audacity.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Sorry, "audio" is perhaps the wrong explaination.
I mean the funktion of audio-Comments.
The handling-problem: The cursor don't jump at the beginning of the comment-file - like in VSX7 - when the file was killed because the comment-file was ***.

Another heavy-problem is the "to-make-video-slower-or-faster"-function: After handling this function the modified file don't expand/shorter in the row-table and sometimes the whole VSX9-programm "freezed", when you have pushed a "wrong button" too fast. In this situation the "automatic-save" don't work. Big ***. I have in second times this big ***.

I have not have these problems in VSX7.

Well, at least you still have the ##!#less X7.
I don't know what audio-Comments is , but I do like this improvement that the scrubber don't jump to clip head. Why it jump there at all? it should jump where the user wants it to be by using the mouse.

No, when you have spoken a comment and you kill the spoken comment because the comment was ***, the cursor jumps at the old start-position in version VSX7, what was good, because you can quickly begin to speak a new comment because the cursor was on the right starting point.

Hi

Yes Corel have changed the behaviour of the curser and it remains at the end of the clip rather than the beginning.

I did raise this with Corel some time ago.

Corels reply.
Quote:-
Thanks for your report.
Actually in X9, we modify a little about cursor behavior in Timeline, for example, when users are zooming in/out in editing a clip, the cursor won’t jump, but remain at the same position. It can help user to lock the focus, but won’t need to search the previous focus point.
I guess the scenario you mentioned might be caused by the behavior change.
We will look into this and see if we need to change it. Again, the behavior might have pros and cons, I will check to see which can bring more benefits.

If you press the Home button before deleting the clip the curser should move to the beginning of the clip.

I cannot test this as X9 "voice over" gives an error when trying to use, X8 works ok?

Thanks, lata, that is a possible solution, but not really the best, because the "Voice-over-file" is often not-marked when the " *** -recording" ends.
The problem is then when the voice-over-file is not marked: when you push the "home"-button the cursor jumps at the beginning of the whole project.

No problems here cutting mp3's. If I had them, I would convert to wav as suggested above.

My problems exists on so called "voice-over-files" and these are WAV-files.
The "voice-over-file"-handling was modified in VSX9.

That would be a problem anyway, But I did not know that some recordings are not saved as clips on the timeline?

You could use the Chapter / Cue point bar at the top of the timelines to set a Cue point (small Blue triangle) at the start of the voice recordings, at least it would be easier to locate.
