Nik Collection

Post by TonyP »

I had this in X4 and know it's 32bit. Just do not know where to find it in the directory tree.
But, Google is now giving away the Nik Collection for free. That's right, for free. You can read about it HERE.
Question is, will it work in X8? I did install it in the Plugins directory here C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X8 (64-bit)\PlugIns\EN, but it's not listed in Plugins. Only PerfectlyClear.
Is this a waste of my time?
Yeah, I know it is only listed for Adobe, but...

I have X8 64bit installed. What path did you install Nik into?

Under File -> File Locations -> Plugins you can point to C:\Program Files\Google\Nik Collection

FYI - I am using it with the 32-bit version of X8 and it works fine.

Is it compatible with ProX 7? I have downloaded it and added it to my plugins folders, but it doesn't show up on the list - even after I reboot. Am I wasting my time?

I did the same thing as you did... had it install into the Plugins folder. That did not work.
With X8, I went to File>Preferences>File Location. In the box File Types, I chose Plugins and then added the Google location. Presto, it worked.

I tried this as well. And when in that screen, it's there. Then when I go to try to use it, when I click on plugins, it's not there.

I can only comment on X8 because that is what I have.
It worked fine. I still haven't removed it from the X8's Plugins folder yet.
Also, my understanding is that this is a 64bit plugin.

I use PSP7 and installed NIK on Windows 10 using the Google location. All the plug-ins show in both the 32 bit and 64 bit editions of Windows 10, but only Vivenza works! The remainder cause PSP to crash when they are opened.

Suggestions?

If you look in the plug-in folder for the Nik Collection you will see both the 32-bit and 64-bit .8bfs. I am able to access the collection with both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of PSP.

Has anyone got the 64bit versions working with x7 and Win 8.1? Mine crashed every time I tried. On two separate setups on two different computers. I simply can't get them to work with x7. The 64bit versions work just fine on the same computers using Photoline.
