I am working with a Dell desktop PC with i7 4790 16GB RAM Windows 8.1 64-bit with Dual Dell Monitors. I downloaded VS X9 and took some video with my Sony Handycam HDR-XR500V. When I import the AVCHD videos into the VS app I can see them and often I can play them but when I want to trim the video it often locks up the application (only way to close the app is by task manager). I also have horrible audio/video synch issues, the video seems to start off well (synchronized) then by the end of the 1 min video I am 3-4 seconds off on the synch. This synch issue seems to be intermittent (some AVCHD test videos work fine, some not).
File format: NTSC HDMV
Size: 30MB
Duration: 50 sec
Video Type: H.264
Frames: 1485
Attributes: 24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 30
Audio Type: Dolby Digital
Samples: 2,379,264
Attributes: 48000Hz
Layer: None
Bit Rate: 448 kbps
I also tried to enable Smart Proxy based on some research but that either does not help or I am not doing it right. I found the setting just fine and I checked the box and saved, but what is weird is every time I open the app the box is unchecked again.
TIA
JW

Unfortunately the trial version of X9 is severely crippled and is not able to do much more than just basic editing of a limited range of formats - all of your problems are down to using the trial version
What I can assure you is that I and many other users here regularly edit AVCHD video in the full version of X9 without any problems at all.

Hi
You could try changing the Project Properties to similar settings as your video file.
Unfortunately, only AVI is available with the trial, so try these….
Settings Project Properties…….
Microsoft AVI files
8 bits, 1440 x 1080, 30 fps
Frame-based
Microsoft Video 1
Interleave audio for every 15 frames
15 Key frame rate:, 75% Quality
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo
Smart Proxy
After enabling SP, right click a clip on the timeline and choose Create Proxy Files, takes a while to render these files.
Otherwise can you provide samples of your files, upload to a sharing site.
We can try your files on the full version to see if we can replicate the crashes.
It may be a windows issue I notice you have W8.1, I am running W7 but could still test your files.

Re: VS X9 Trial - Locks up with AVCHD & Audio synch is off
Well, I purchased the full version and no luck.
I have downloaded the source files from my video camera again to remove the "corruption theory". Both my PMB (Sony app) and WIndows media play the AVCHD files just fine. VS software continues to have audio/video synch issues, unlike either one of the other applications.
I am out of luck I guess. I use to love this VS app, now I have wasted so many hours and now money that I am just at a loss. Customer support ticket has not even been addressed in the past two days.
Bummer...

Can you make that video from your 1st post (or any other short problem video) available to us (via dropbox or other site) so that we can play around with it?J-Dub wrote:Well, I purchased the full version and no luck.
