VS X6 pan and zoom problems

Post by Steve Berer »

Hi all. Using X6 I am doing some custom pan/zooms on stills in a video sequence. They spiral around an image, which requires multiple steps in building the spiral sequence. When I create the sequence it plays smoothly. But once it is integrated into a series of stills and video clips, the movement becomes very choppy, as if the camera were bumping into a wall to change directions, rather that moving smoothly along a curve.
I found a work around: to make the pan/zoom sequence singly on each still, turn each into a video, and then import these videos into the whole sequence. Actually, even this solution has problems if I then want to set variable speeds on each individual video sequence. It again becomes very jerky and bumpy. Perhaps there are better solutions. I'd like to know.
Failing a more effective solution in X6,if I upgrade to X9 Pro, will the custom pan/zoom be improved and useable without creating individual video clips? Or is the X9 custom pan/zoom essentially the same as the X6 Pro version?
Thanx.
Steve

X9 will not be better than X6 in that respect. There isn't any need for video'ing the still, what you should do is once you set your key-frames play the clip in the edit menu twice, by the play button at the far right.
If you put here a demo VSP with one of your zoom's we can examine it.
