I have several .jpg images which I cannot access.
Windows is telling me they cannot be opened, moved or deleted because they are open in PaintShop Pro. Maybe they were once upon a time but not now. How can I unlock these file so I can work on them or, failing that, just get rid of them.

Re: locked file
Is your PSP still open? Sometimes, it will do that if you have used those images and PSP can still retrieve them in the Recent files. When this happens to me, i just close PSP completely and it lets me use those other images. Try that maybe?

Re: locked file
It's really irritating that PSP doesn't turn loose of an image file when you close it. That shouldn't still be happening.

Re: locked file
This is not just a PSP issue. Windows will often 'lock' a file that has been open in another program. Closing the program fixes the issue.

Re: locked file
And just because you have closed PSP might not be enough. Sometimes a PSP process is still running in the background after you close the program. You can check that by opening Task Manager and see if there is a PSP process still running. If so, disable it.
I have never, in all my years with Windows and PSP, run into an issue where Windows or PSP has actually locked a file. But I have had times when PSP is closed but left a process running in the background.

Re: locked file
I might just add that by closing the file and opening another one within PSP can also 'release' the 'locked' file.
