Corel Server Problem? (Can't Download Upgrade)

Post by steveoregon »

I purchased the upgrade (VideoStudio Pro X9). After purchase, I was given the link to download a small exe file, that starts downloading the bigger installation file (approximately 1.09G size). Every single time I try to download the bigger file, it hangs on approx 27.5meg and gives the error "We've encountered a problem while downloading, check your internet connection". I've tried two different computers, same error message. There is NOTHING wrong with my internet connection, all web browsers work fine. I can easily download a 1G file from my dropbox account. This certainly appears to be a problem with the Corel download program or Corel's servers.

Here's a link to the error message:

I was finally able to download the upgrade files by booting Windows 10 into safe mode (with internet access). I will never know what the original issue was, but doesn't matter now.

Later, after solving the issue myself, I received the following from tech support (for future reference for others).
==========================================================================
Try to update your windows programs and reset your I.E. Corel Programs are very dependent to Internet Explorer. Here's a simple step to reset your I.E.

1. Press WINDOWS KEY + R
2. Type INETCPL.CPL and hit OK (this will pull up Internet Options)
3. Go to the Security tab and hit "Reset All Zones To Default Level"
4. Go to the Advanced tab and click "Restore Advanced Settings" and do a Reset.
5. Click OK
6. Relaunch the installer and/or software.

Important: Also make sure that the browser (IE) is up to date. If IE is version 8, make sure to update it to version 10 or 11 by having the customer run WINDOWS UPDATE.

To check the version of IE, launch the browser and click HELP > ABOUT INTERNET EXPLORER.

Having the same issue downloading a new copy of VideoStudio X9. I make it to 1.01GB out of 1.09GB, then the download rate cuts off, and I get the same error message. Tried safe mode, and tried the IE settings solution as well, with no luck. Any other ideas to try?
