No shadows, no gradients, not just one bright light, but more like whatever number of lights makes the orange (or whatever color is unique) background is uniformly one color. Could take a photo of the background into photoshop or another photo editing program and explore the colors around the photo to observe the uniformity.MikesMovies wrote:Be interested in tips?

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
I've already changed a background scenery using the instructions given by Gripps : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrcDO9dDcLY and it worked very fine. I've used that on a picture with a very clear blue sky, in a bedroom with somenone close a wall. The selected colour of the wall was replaced by a video and all the rest of the picture remained the same.MikesMovies wrote:Hi
Slightly re-angled, the main subject is a model train and the backdrop needs to fill the white space behind it.
Thanks

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
yes if you have a clearly defined foreground colour and sky like Gripps used then the standard Chroma key in Videostudio does work well - but as Mikes experiments have shown it is not so easy if there are multiple colours and shades of the same colour on the foreground - it is just a matter of getting the best background colour and matching it to the foreground colours - I am sure with just a little more experimentation Mike will achieve the perfect result

If you you read that post http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59042, there's something for you. Explanations and links in Templates called Photo or Video Backdrop. Template 1 is very easy if you follow Gripps' instructions.MikesMovies wrote:Very much looking forward to it all, fingers crossed the main filming will be done this Thursday, so I'll share the results.
Many thanks

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
Hi JaRo
I have checked out your templates, really good.
My issue however is reversed in that I want the photo as the background with the video in the foreground?
Would you have a suggestion for that?
Thanks

I'll be away for a few days, but I will try to find a solution for you. Right now, I would simply put the mask at the place I want the video to appear.MikesMovies wrote:Hi JaRo

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
Good evening Mike,
Two new Templates Photo and Video Backdrop. 03 still has the photo in foreground, but it shows you that you can delete lots of détails to achieve what you want. As for 04, the video is in foreground.
Hope this will help you.

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
OK, my orange sheet has arrived
Given the set up as shown here, camera will be in one position, kind of 3/4 view on the trains, backdrop as shown.
What is the best way to light everything given my equipment options.
I have, two LED photo lights 15X11cm panels.
One large 50 watt LED flood light as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMbzJ-4JHSc
One 20 watt LED flood light of 15x11 cm also.
Two CRT 6500k box lights with four bulbs in each.
I know I need to get the orange screen as evenly lit as possible, but I also need the subject well lit don't I?
Cheers for any help
Mike

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
Hi all, here is a video of the latest experiments.
At the end you can see the settings and lighting set up.
This is about as close as I have been to OK, but there are still issues.

Would welcome your advice?

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
I can't tell what the issues are. The background does not seem to be lit enough. Take a photo of the background, then get it into Photoshop or some other image viewer program that allows to show you the color of each pixel as you move the cursor around to see how uniform is the color. Then you need to determine whether this color is absent from your foreground clip.

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
Hi
It's all put away again now sadly.
The issue I see are Key bleed through on coach roofs, and left side of signal post.
Flicker mid left where photo ends and retaining wall of railway board meet. (prob not lit properly)
If you watch the brake van on the end of the freight it's front becomes transparent just as it passes out of shot right.
Odd wobble, is this the camera focusing?
I was wondering about putting both soft boxes left and right of the subject pointing down and lighting the sheet with the LED light?

Re: adding a photo backdrop to videos
I felt that the lighting on the trains was to "flat" - couldn't help feeling it should be at an angle - also it seemed to bright to me
