Magic fill won't fill..pro x 8

Post by Barrylad66 »

Hi

Kim having problems with magic fill in pro x 8. I selected the area which I wanted to move with both the free hand tool and the selection tool ( the box ), the area is selected but when I hit the magic fill icon nothing happens. I have tried many times but to no avail, has anyone had this problem,or could advice me if I'm doing anything wrong..

Regards
Ade

Your title says Magic Fill but from your description it sounds like you are trying to use Magic Move so I will speak to that.

First, make sure your selection tool is set to 'replace'; not add or remove. Next, make sure you are clicking on the Magic Move icon and not the Magic Fill.

Hope this helps.

Hi
Sorry if my explanation was a bit misleading, but I was actually just trying to erase a small section, and fill it with the magic fill not move the selected item..I have tried to do it again but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe a glitch in the soft ware? I will try to replaCe it and see if that works first...

Many thanks.

This is such a vague term.

What do you mean here?
:
It does not do anything?
It freezes?
It does not put anything in the erased transparent area?
It puts something in the erased area but it does not match the surroundings?

What is the purpose of erasing first?
The magic fill tool replaces all of the material inside the selected area with random bits from all sides of the surrounding areas . It does different placements each time.
You can test this by making a new document a square. Selecting part(1/5) of one side and making that one color eg red. Then the opposite side with another color. Finishing with solid colors along each of the four sides and extending in but leaving an uncolored section in the middle. Then select using a square selection and apply the magic fill. Repeat applications of the magic fill will produce different results.

So it will work best where there are random patches of colour with indistinct shapes eg coloured mixes of leaves in autumn, or leaves of one colour on a tree, grasses areas etc.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Hi again,
Sorry if it sounded a bit ' vague', but as I stated in my original post, I can select the area to be filled using the magic fill ( an unwanted object with a grey surrounding area ) but when I click on the magic fill icon it doesn't remove the object and fill it. I'm guessing there is something wrong,as I have tried many times and used a few duplicate copys of various photos. I think I will reinstall x8 again and see what happens...
Thanks for taking the time to advise / help
