Anybody have negative experience with VS 8 after installing this codec pack? I am testing Ashampoo Burning Studio to try and substitute for MYDVD in VS. Their software on Windows 7 will not output to fill the screen horizontally so they want me to install the codec pack.
Since version 8 I have not been able to make reproducible DVDs when combining projects. Same output to MPG2 as usual and the first one burns fine but the DVD duplicator fails on loading. My guess is it has something to do with the project insert something is encoded on rendering that causes failure. Gave up trying to fix it.

Re: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
While i don't have specific experience using this codec pack with videostudio, installing codec packs (with a lot of codec) is often something that could cause problems with different application on your system (and could give you a long time before discovering all of them). I suggest you to take a backup of your system or a restore point so you could get back in case of problem after extensive testing of all your multimedia applications you are using with most files format you are typically using...

Re: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
I agree with Curious. I have in fact loaded codecs from the K-Lite pack in the distant past -- but they were only the codecs I needed at the time, not the whole pack. As Curious has already said, sometimes the mass of codecs can cause other problems as some of the codecs within the pack itself are inconsistent with each other if used in the one project (though this will probably be rare these days).

Re: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
Hi sgraham
First I have installed the K-Lite codec pack without problems, having said that I don’t know if it improved things anyway.??
There are a few versions of Ashampoo burning software I assume you are looking at the free version. The one I viewed required a disc folder (Video_TS folder) or Disc Image ISO created by another video editor, so Ashampoo does not encode the video.
So I don’t understand the comment regarding “will not output to fill the screen horizontally” are you referring to Widescreen 16:9 aspect.
I don’t see how the K-lite codec pack or Ashampoo Burner Studio is gonna help?
Back to Video Studio………..
If you are able to burn / create a disc Image (ISO file) then you can burn that file to disc using a variety of software, multiple copies if you need them.
If as you say the problem is with the project render during the burn process, then you should first convert the project to a video file (Mpeg2) then use the file to burn discs. Well create that ISO to be used to burn a disc.
