I have had nothing but problems with the VS Pro/Ultimate X8.5 crashing every 2 to 4 minutes. I have a brand new Dell laptop computer and everything I have is a new install. I have read other articles that say that Corel users have had the exact same problem, even with the updates and patches.
In various articles VS crashes have been blamed on X8 and X8.5 being incompatible with Windows 10, conflicts with the latest NVIDIA video graphics card with GeForce CUDA, conflicts with the new Intel i7 CORE Processor, the size of the projects or files, or types of video files being used. All kinds of reasons and excuses have been offered but, no real answers.
It's not the video type, size or files that causes the failure. My Corel crashes just by playing/accessing the very files that come with the program itself.
I never had this problem with Win 7 and Corel VS Pro 6.
Can't blame my PC, as it is state of the art, brand new, and specifically geared up for video and music production.
To top it all off, a few of the bundle package software add-ons, have just magically disappeared from my pc. After downloading the latest patch, the Instant Projects and General Projects, (the preprogrammed video projects that came with the software) are gone. I checked in the Corel program files, and some folders have vanished. The Instant project was totally glitched anyway, and also caused my VS to crash.
Its really sad, because I loved using Corel VS, but know the program just leaves me angry and frustrated, and also leaves my wallet short of what it cost me to pay for a failed software package.
Does anyone know if Corel will fix this problem? I read the stats on VS 9, and even that program is behind the curve with windows 10/NVIDIA compatibility.

Re: VS Pro/Ultimate X8.5 crashes on Windows 10
I have a very new Dell XPS 13 souped up with i7 and lots of RAM and SDD with a very high res display running Windows 10 updated automatically with latest updates. X8.5 has no problems running and no crashes. Therefore, I don't think it is the hardware.
Either describe one instance of crashing very detailed, or remove your X8.5 installation, and re-install it. Don't despair and don't think "everyone" is having problems. Let's try to help you get going.

Re: VS Pro/Ultimate X8.5 crashes on Windows 10
Hi Rico Goldstar
Some time ago, back in the X5 days, I bought a Lenovo lap top for my wife, brand new, yes it crashed on a regular basis, library clips requested a re-link to the wrong locations, many strange things happened.
It was the graphics drivers that needed updating, strange when it’s a new computer.
Some details regarding the errors I received
http://lata.me.uk/corel/lenovo/lenovo.htm
so if you get odd things happening, re-links that don’t work or targeting the wrong location??????
As I say a new pc with old out of date graphics, took nearly 12 months to find the culprit………
If you have lost your library content try re-setting the program…..

As Al asks please provide more details as to what errors you are getting….
Oh...Make sure you have Flash and Quicktime installed
