Possible to turn a video clip into timelapse?

Post by tletter »

I have a long FHD video clip that is too long to keep a viewer's attention even if sped up by 1000%. The scene should have been recorded using timelapse. Hence I'd like to turn this video clip into a timelapse or stop motion series.

The freeze frame or snapshot features could be used if there was a way to have them automatically extract a frame from this video clip every x seconds.

Does anyone know how to turn a video clip into a timelapse or stop motion series? Thanks.

in X9 put the video in the timeline - RIGHT click on it and from the pop-up choose "speed/time-lapse" - - a settings window will open to allow you to set frames to be removed - but unfortunately you also have to mess with the speed to keep it smooth - would have been better if Corel had automatically done that

I don't understand the inference in that settings window that removing frames will slow it down - surely removing frames will effectively speed the video up

you could be one of the very few people to master it.

I have used a 3rd part utility to turn a video into a series of jpgs. Do a google search for "Free Video to JPG Converter". I believe that when you install it, it also tries to install other programs which you should deny of course
It allows you to extract every frame, every "X"s frame plus several other options. Those extracted jpgs can then be used to create a timelapse video.

Thanks I tried this but the output wasn't what I was looking for so I rendered the clip once a 1000% speed and then re-rendered this output at a 600% speed. The end result was a clip at a 1600% speed which met my requirement.

Thanks I'll try this.
