The frustration continues

Post by earthshaker »

I am currently using VS x6, I managed to get it to run after taking care of the Windows updates that wouldn't let it launch. It worked until today, it launches OK but when I try to load a video, I get an "Unspecified Error" message. Earlier today I let Quick time update, and started to wonder if that was the culprit. I have the DMP file from VS if anyone is interested.
I can't install VSx9 because my machine doesn't meet the sys req.
Any ideas?

You could get either V7 or V8. I had the same problem as you, and found v8 ultimate on amazon for half the price of v9. I wasn't planning on upgrading, but this latest problem forced me to do it. In my opinion, corel should still offer support and fixes for programs that I bought less than 3 years ago. The newer versions require faster/better machines, and I'm still using a 4 year old computer.

I agree, I often wondered why I didn't read much about Corel products, but hear about adobe products all the time, guess this is one of the reasons why. I am downloading a competitive product as I type, we will see if it works out.

Nonsense, I am running X9 on a 8 year old laptop without any problems.

The problem with this sort of vague claim is that we don't know how you're using X9. For example, if you're only producing slideshows that's one thing but if you're editing large FHD or 4K files, then it requires capable hardware to edit effectively. That's why Corel's X9 system requirements include:
  • - Intel Core i5 or i7 1.06 GHz, or higher, required for AVCHD & Intel Quick Sync Video support
    - Intel Core i7 or AMD Athlon X4 or higher for UHD or Multi-Camera editing
    - Intel 6th Generation processor (Skylake) is required for HEVC hardware encoding
Your profile doesn't list your processor type so perhaps you meet Corel's X9 system requirements which would explain why you're running X9 "without any problems".
