Is there a way to download VideoStudio Ultimate x8? PROBLEM

So I bought the package from best buy and it has two CD's in it and a serial number needed for installation. My laptop does not have a CD/DVD rom slot or drive. So the CD's are virtually useless to me. Is there a way to download it from online and just type the serial number I received? I didn't realize they would give me CDs, I thought they'd give a download link and a serial number. UGH.

I don't think so. X8 has now been superseded by X9, and in any case the trial version of X8 and X9 have been severely crippled and should be avoided. Corel is unlikely to offer anything since you did not buy it direct from them. Have you spoken to Best Buy about a download version?

Do you have another computer with a DVD drive in it, or a friend who has one? The only thing I can think to suggest is that if you have two 8 GB USB stick drives, or a 16 GB one, or an external USB hard dive, simply copy the whole of both DVDs to the external drive(s), plug that into your laptop and install from there using Windows' File Explorer which should clearly show the setup.exe files.

Why would I need two 8 gb USB sticks? Is the program really that big?

They are not CDs, but DVDs. You could look at their Properties in File Explorer on a computer which has a DVD drive and see what their individual size is. But from memory their total size is over 6 GB as they will contain both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the programs and all the plug-ins that make up the Ultimate version.

Any idea how much a 16 gb would cost? I'm looking online and it says 5 to 10 dollars. Is that right? Seems really cheap for something that can hold 16 gb

I live in New Zealand so have no idea what the prices in the USA might be -- apart from knowing that they are invariably much cheaper than here. And even here you can get an 8 GB USB stick drive for around $8. So those prices you mention sound pretty right.

I purchased two 16Gb USB drives yesterday for $A8 each and 32GB are $A12 each

Thanks all. I'm most likely going to invest into a CD/DVD external reader thing that can be plugged into the USB and install it from that.

That's probably not a bad idea. I have two of those (one of them being an external Blu-Ray drive). But very useful for adding programs to the increasing number of devices like yours which don't have internal CD/DVD/BD drives (in my case a Win 10 tablet, and two Netbooks).
