Writing in Sand
Looking to do a project for a friend and what they want is for me to create some text in the sand of a beach image.
What is the best way to accomplish this in Corel. Using the x5 suite right now. I have seen some tutorials online but nothing that worked well for what I was trying to do.
I have attached a generic beach photo and like I said just looking to do some text on it like it is appearing to be written int he sand. Would prefer to use the text tool as I have a cool looking Sandwriting font so I guess the next step would be to some how apply specific effects to the text

Re: Writing in Sand
That image is one of the most common for sand writing manipulations it seems. xD
Cassel sells a sand writing script. http://shop.learn.corel.com/collections ... ing-script
Don't know of any good tutorials and my own experiments were of limited success.

Yes i did see that video of that script for sale. Just wasnt sure how well it worked. I saw int he video that they show it being done with a drawing then applying the script (using the pen tool or paint tool first) I really wanted to apply the effect to text

Re: Writing in Sand
The video for the plugin on that page indicates that it works on rasters and vectors. Since text is a vector it will work without an issue. Even if it didn't, all you'd have to do is convert the text to a raster and it'd be exactly the same as having painted on a regular raster layer. But I can guarantee it'll work with a text layer just fine.
Whether or not it'll give you the results you want, that I cannot guarantee.

Type the following into Google and you'll get links to various tutorials on how to create a writing-in-sand effect. You might be able to modify them to work with PSP:

Or you could use an online generator like PhotofFunia. https://photofunia.com/search?q=sand+writing

Re: Writing in Sand
I did see that website.... although cool it is not what i am looking for. I dont like the way the letters are on there plus I have to print out for a heat transfer onto slate so the image would have to be much larger than what that website creates

Re: Writing in Sand
OK So I bought that Sandwriting Script but cant seem to get it to work.
I am using Photo Paint x5
Their directions that came with the script seem to be for an older version because it says to go to "View" then "Scripts" when I dont even have that in Photo Paint but instead the script command is under "Tools" - "Run Corel Script" I did go to that and it looks for files with the extension of .CSC or .CSB (Script Binary Files)
The script that came from Discovery Corel ends with .pspscript
I tried to run it anyway and it said there were errors (See attached screen shot)
Anyone have any input as I have never used scripts before in any of my Corel Programs

Re: Writing in Sand
I am so so sorry, captainron19. I didn't think you were using Photo Paint.
This is the forum for PaintShop Pro. You can't run Paint Shop Pro scripts with Photo Paint. See if you can get a refund. These forums don't handle Corel Draw at all. Corel Draw has their own forums.

Re: Writing in Sand
If you are using PhotoPaint, then you are in the wrong forum. This is for PaintShop Pro. PhotoPaint is part of the CorelDRAW suite (which I guess explains your reference in your first post to having the X5 suite). It also explains why a PaintShop Pro script won't run in PhotoPaint...
There is a completely separate Board for the CorelDRAW group of programs: https://community.coreldraw.com You will need to register separately there.

Re: Writing in Sand
Wow ! Dont I feel like a moron. To be honest I have always used Corel Draw Graphics suite - which of course came with Photo Paint
What are the main differences between PSP and Photo Paint? Does Paint Shop Pro offer more features to accomplish graphics creation? If so i will most likely look into picking up a copy - if anything just to keep using this forum.....You guys are great when it comes to help (Cant tell you how many other forums I have been to where people act like idiots and jump down your throat for asking a simple question)
Also is X8 the current version for PSP? I was just shopping online and I see 2 seperate ones that are x8 (one says ultimate and has a woman holding a camera ...dark box. And the other just says x8 and it is a whiter box )

Re: Writing in Sand
Corel offers a try before you buy option so I'd recommend downloading a trial to see if it meets your needs.

Re: Writing in Sand
Just noticed your question about X8 versus X8 Ultimate. The programs are exactly the same. The only difference is that the Ultimate package includes some freebies. Believe they are offering:
NEW ON1 Perfect Effects 9.5 filters and presets
NEW Corel AfterShot 2 complete RAW editing
NEW Perfectly Clear 2 SE one-click photo correction

Re: Writing in Sand
Paint Shop Pro is aimed mostly at a market that does a lot of photo editing and enhancing and is not a paint program per se. It does have graphic and painting abilities but not to the extent dedicated paint and vector programs have like Corel Draw. You can read about the various features on the Corel site and download a user manual to get an even better idea of what it does.captainron19 wrote:Wow ! Dont I feel like a moron. The reason I provided you with a link in my previous post to Photoshop tutorials on writing in sand is because I also assumed you were using Paint Shop Pro. Those tutorials wouldn't be of as much help if you're using Photo Paint.
The only difference between PSP X8 and the Ultimate version is that by purchasing the Ultimate version you get some extra brushes and stuff like that. I'm not sure whether or not it would be worth your while to pay extra for the extras, but others here could be more specific about that.
