CVS X9 service pack 1
Ongoing problems (for me anyway) with VS X9 - see "moving project to later version of VS" by Skipper. Despite my best efforts and assistance from the forum I had given up and deleted VS X9 from my PC and requested new download keys from Cleverbridge customer support in an attempt to obtain a "clean copy." It was my belief that somehow my copy had become corrupted since Lata's written notice stated there are no issues with the VS X9 download version and no service pack is anticipated. Well ##### me - I switched to my laptop where also I had an un-used copy of VS X9 installed, tried it and it crashed! So I went to shut it down and lo and behold - a notice form Corel "VS X9 service pack 1 is now available for download" (or words like) I had not just checked their site, it was an automated notice. And that despite some Corel tech support jockey called John telling me yesterday to contact a user support group and closing the "ticket" implying there was nothing he could do! As yet I have not tested the download, only bringing it to other like minded people so they also may benefit. I hope it is the fix I am looking for!!! I look forward to a response from more enlightened forum members. Skipper

I'm not sure why a new key will help if all the old debris of an X9 installation is not removed. Did you consider performing a System Restore to completely remove X9 and then reinstalling X9?Skipper wrote:I had given up and deleted VS X9 from my PC and requested new download keys from Cleverbridge customer support in an attempt to obtain a "clean copy."
The X9 SP1 release notes states that "This patch applies only to users who have installed from a Disc. It is not required for users who have downloaded the installer from our website." Hence if you are installing from a download, this SP does not apply to you.Skipper wrote:lo and behold - a notice form Corel "VS X9 service pack 1 is now available for download"

Re: CVS X9 service pack 1
Sorry if I did not make myself clear - I have deleted all of the X9 install files and having paid for electronic backup program files thought this would perhaps heal the problem? Is there more I need do?
Regards the SP1, as previously stated I did not search for this but rather it came up on my laptop as I closed VS X9. Why would Corel send something to me that was of no relevance? (dumb question I suppose?)
Surely their spyware is clever enough to know the difference? And no, I did not see the specifics about the SP1 but assumed it related to my software. Hey - I'm just a poor struggling old timer trying to do some video editing for personal use, and admit I have a lot to learn. Skipper

Re: CVS X9 service pack 1
Hi Skipper
Sorry you are having problems with running CVSX9.
Just to confirm the Service Pack 1 provided by Corel is for the Boxed version not the download version.
Why only the Boxed version, this is my interpretation …..
At the end of beta testing the final Release files CVSX9 program files were sent to the manufacturers for them to burn / create discs for sale as a boxed version.
Then the windows updates occurred.
Unable to change the original Boxed versions Corel created a fix in the way of a SP1.
Now as the release date had not been reached the Download versions could be modified, the new versions being released mid February program launch date with the fix applied.
So no SP1 is required for the Download versions.
Had the Windows Updates happened a week earlier then I suspect Corel would have the time to fix both versions.
It has now left us with two versions, both with the same functions but different version numbers.
SP1 is provided for the Boxed version, but is certainly causing some concern and confusion.
The download version of CVSX is 19.1.0.10
Skipper
I don’t know why CVSX9 should be prompting you to automatically install SP1, seems a little strange?
Skipper can you do me a favour and provide details of the download folder Ultimate.
The folder should be within the 64 bit folder.
Right click the Ultimate folder and choose properties, Alt+Prt Sc will copy that panel to your clipboard, use an image editor to create a jpeg and attach to your post
I will compare those details with what I have?
Post updated
I have just re-install download version CVSX9 and indeed the program did auto install SP1.
Corel did indicate that they would allow this just to change the serial number which is causing some confusion.
Functions of the program should not change, CVSX9 with SP1 is version 19.1.0.14
I have e-mailed Corel for conformation?

Re: CVS X9 service pack 1
Hi Lata, Trevor.
Thank goodness I am not going mad. I was beginning to have self doubts about my ability to work with video editing. I really appreciate your help in these matters. Other postings indicated I would receive no benefit from SP1 and they were correct. When I re-booted my laptop and started working in VS X9, it crashed 10 minutes into the process so I shall desist and go back to plan "A" to do a fresh load of the X9 files onto my PC which has previously always been very stable. Any suggestions of how to ensure there are no "leftovers" from the previous install would be appreciated since someone has indicated this could be a problem? Is a system restore the best way? (I have never pressed that button in my life!) Skipper

Re: CVS X9 service pack 1
Just launched VSX9 on this Win7 machine and Corel Update box appeared, then updated to Service Pack 1, version has now changed from 19.1.10 to 19.1.0.14, previously Service Pack 1 could not be installed
