Opening old VSP files in Ultimate X9

VS Ultimate X9 - won't open VSP files made in X8. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sorry! I should have said X6, not X8.

[Incidentally, X6 suddenly stopped loading - hence buying X9 . . . . any ideas on that one, as well?]

X6 stopped working due to a Windows update - there are many posts and topics in these forums about it and how to get round it

Problem solved. It was the trial X9 that I'd downloaded. Once I uninstalled everything and re-installed the official x9, there was no problem.

Hello everyone,
same problem here. VS Ultimate X9 does not open vsp projects created with X7.

It does not give any error. They just don't open, nothing happens, no clips are shown on the time line.

Both softwares run now fine on my computer (even X7 after the official patch due to the infamous windows update).

Anyone else with this problem.

Welcome to the forums.

If you are using the Trial version then older VSP's will not open.

Only VSP's made with the trial can be used

Hello - I recently purchased x9 VS - and cannot open vsp files that were created in VS x6. I installed x9 from the online site. Do you recommend I uninstall and reinstall x9? Not sure how to do that since I got it online. Thank you very much

I would not think we are ready to uninstall and re-install just yet

Do you still have the downloaded programme file - if yes then save it to a DVD or external drive along with the serial number so that it is safe for when you do want to re-install

if you deleted the download file (silly) and you had only just downloaded it then you may be able to download it again - links are usually available for a while - then save the download file - you never know when you will need it

what do the X6 project files consist of - just videos ? or something else which may not be compatible with X9 - Smartsound for instance - did you use that in X6 - it does not exist in X9

do you get any error messages at all

have you tried using "File >> open project" and browsing to the .vsp as well as RIGHT clicking on the .vsp and choosing 'open with >> Corel videostudio'

Thank you for the suggestions, very much appreciated - here is the latest.

I tried opening the file by right mouse clicking and then choose open with CVSP, here is what happened:
- I received a "Load from Stream Error" - after OK 23 times the application crashed

Please try opening the project from within Video Studio not via Windows Explorer

When I try from VSP - it doesn't "do" anything. Its strange... it looks like it will open but the timeline does not get filled with content.

The error report shows 19.1.0.12, that as far as I know is the trial version


The purchased download version will be 19.1.0.10 or 19.1.0.14 patched.

I would uninstall the program choosing to remove all personal settings.
Install from the purchased downloads.

Install either manually of via the Web-Installer (VideoStudioX9_Installer.exe)

Only project files created with the trial can be opened, it will not open files created with other versions of Video Studio.
