Bought X9 trial but how do I tell it

Post by MIKEL »

Hi guys - bit confusing but here goes.
VS X7 PRO did NOT work with video from Canon 7D mkII - so I tried the X9 and since only the ULTIMATE is used as a trial I found it works.
Even though I would have loved to try the PRO Corel doesn't have that option.
So while thinking about it there was an offer to upgrade to the ULTIMATE for the price of a PRO upgrade - amazed someone somewhere knows what is happening.
Anyway paid for the upgrade and entered the serial number and part of it thinks it now lives here with us - but it still doen't know it is not a trial version anymore.

Before I delete all and re-install - again - is there a simpler way?

Almost a deleriously happy person/customer.

Ah you guys don't work on Sunday -
Mike
Many thanks
Mike

Who told you that - beside it's already Monday in New Zealand where my colleague Ken lives

First you cannot buy the trial - it is free

Second - there is absolutely no difference at all between the Pro and Pro Ultimate programmes - they are identical - and the trial is NOT the Ultimate version since Corel will not pay the licence fees for some of the commercial features and codecs used in the programme

What changes a pro to a pro Ultimate is a number of 'plug-ins' and 'bolt-ons' - nothing changes in the actual programme

before making any changes it is best to completely un-install the trial version - it is a crippled programme with many features disabled - and you don't want it on your computer any more - get rid of it

then un-install anything else related to X9 and start again

How did you purchase X9 by download ? - you should have downloaded three complete packages - the programme - the standard content - and the bonus content - install all 3 too get an X9 Ultimate installation

Brian hi - well I see that Corel did such a good job I screwed it - bless Murphy.
Embarressing as I am also a tech writer that doesn't read what is displayed.
They actually sent a folder containing the trial to real mode.
Also I didn't install all the units you mentioned.
It is very clearly written - so embarressing.
thanks

Yes that is no problem - under normal circumstance owning X7 entitles you to the upgrade price of X9 - but currently due to all the problems caused to Videostudio by a Windows update Corel seem to have relaxed the rule and owning any previous version of Videostudio seems to make you eligible for the upgrade price

note that the 'Upgrade' refers only to the special price - what you get when you buy an upgrade version is a full and complete stand alone working programme in it's own right - it does not add to a previous installation
