No Images on Thumbnails in Windows Explorer

Post by llcobb »

no images are showing up on thumbnails in Windows Explorer, Windows 8.1. I've tried the check the box and uncheck it to show thumbnails, that didn't work, I've uninstalled and reinstalled X8 numerous times, I'm using the free download trial. I've tried everything I can think of, anybody else have any suggestions, I need to be able to see the images! I know there was the same problem in X6 or x7 and I downloaded that solution but have not found a solution for X8. Anybody???? Somebody???? PLEASE!!! PSPX* I'm using 32bit because I need to access the old plugins

I know I had the same issue but time has erased the answer from my brain! Sorry.

The cache takes a long time to build first time around. Have you given it time to build? Open a folder with just a few mixed images and see what happens.

regards.

Your post reads as very frustrated and done in haste and as such is very confusing.
From what I read :
1. You have windows 8.1 and you cannot see thumbnails in Windows Explorer (File Explorer) and you are blaming that on an installation of PSP X8.
2. You have not said which type of images you cannot see the thumbnails of. Are they jpgs, tifs, raw files (which camera and type of raw files) , pspfiles, png etc.
3. When you uninstalled PSPX8 could you see thumbnails in Windows explorer then? (View > Large Icons)
4. Are you really talking about seeing thumbnails in Windows Explorer or about thumbnails being absent with PSP X8 open and in Manage mode?
5. What are you doing and looking at to attempt to see these thumbnails. (with PSP closed, and opening This PC and then navigating to a test folder with jpgs in it on your desktop can you see the thumbnails there?)

As you can see there is a lot of information you have not provided.

I prepared a test folder on my desktop and took a jpg image and in PSP X8 saved it as a tif, gif, pspfile, png, and pspimage and also copied the original CR2 file.. I was able to see the thumbnails of those images both in File explorer and in PSP X8 under Manage mode's Organiser.
From Edit mode and using Open and in the dialog box selecting Large Icons from the View menu, I could again see all those mentioned thumbnails.

This question was asked and answered in this forum previously. If you do a search you will more than like find it.

To view thumbnails in File Explorer open it. Click the View Tab, Options - Change folder and search options. The Folder options panel opens select View. Under Files and Folders, make sure Display file icon on thumbnails is ticked with the first two un-ticked. Click OK and close. Reopen File Explorer and you'll see PspImages as images.

In the unlikely event that you see this six years since your post, thanks a bunch Tim!

Only just discovered that my psimage files are not getting thumbnail images. That tool immediately restored them.
