problem with youtube files in x9

Post by dullek »

Hello, i have a problem with HD-clips (mp4) which were downloaded from youtube in X9.
They are not properly displayed, the picture is somewhat smeared most of the time (in some phases its ok for a few seconds only). This makes editing very difficult, and, unfortunately this error also appears in the output file (even though untouched except cutting and smartrendered).
Is that bug known, is there a solution?

via the download-button.
The file is an mp4-file (H264) in HD (1080p25)

Where is the download-button in X9? I download from YouTube in an MP4 format using a browser plug-in, e.g. Video DownloadHelper. Once downloaded, the clips can be imported into X9 (I use a licensed version).

I've not seen this behaviour. Have you compared the quality of the downloaded files in a video player against the X9 rendered output? If the source quality is poor or the X9 project properties are not suitable then the X9 output will be poor.

The quality in VLC player and also in other editing softwar like Mpeg_streamclip is excellent and without those distortions.

In X9 Preferences have you ticked the box beside 'Show messsage when inserting file into timeline'? If not then tick it and start a new project. Drag the YT clip into the timeline. You should get a msg asking if you want the Project Properties to match those of the clip. Say yes. How does the clip play now in Project mode?

Yes, I had that activated already, as I had planned to smartrender later.
By the way, it seesm to work better with 720-YTfiles. There I have the effect only partly when scrollling through the timeline and only seldomly and shortly when playing teh clip at normal speed (haven't testet exporting yet).
