I uninstalled and then re-installed to no avail.

I thought it was Corel's issue.

One or two other Vista users have complained that those updates also affected them. In other words, your bottom line is either (a) to uninstall those two updates for the moment and be able to use X7; or (b) wait for Corel to produce a hotfix for X7, but not be able to use VS in the meantime; or (c) upgrade to Win 10...

Had no effect on Vista.

Still crashes with "Fault Module Name: kernel32.dll"

It is rather easy to uninstall updates and then hide them but it's a PITA.

Your profile says you are running Windows 7 professional DLipman

is that not correct ?? - where have you mentioned that you are using Windows Vista

I am a computer technician. I don't seek support without testing. Either it works on my ASUS Desktop or on my Dell Latitude D620 notebook ( shortly to be replaced by a Latitude E5430 with Windows 7 Ultimate/32. I am waiting on the FedEx delivery Today )

Thus I had to test VSX7 on Vista/32 since it failed to run on Win7/32.

BTW: KB3126593 made the difference on Vista.

I am not sure whether it will work for yours but I have learnt from Ilene (posted Feb 10, 2016, 5:07 pm) that there are 3 Windows patches to be removed but she is not sure which one or all three is needed. I have verified on my notebook using Windows 7 Enterprise that both KB3126587 and KB3126593 windows update (Installed on 10 Feb 2016) patches needs to be removed and with notebook rebooted for my Video Studio 7 Ultimate to work again. Not sure what the security risk is after removing these 2 patches. But if you need to run your Video Studio urgently before a patch is available from Corel, you may want to try this. All the Best.

Hotfix 1 is now available for VideoStudio X7 in Windows 7.

This update fixes launch issues caused by the February 2016 Windows 7 Security Update from Microsoft.

Was tested on Windows Vista/32. While the above specifically states "Windows 7" this patch also fixes Windows Vista.
