VS X9 don't work after Windows update
Hi
Since the update of Windows update on 11 february my VS X9 don't work. KB 3134814, KB 3126587 and KB3126593 have been removed.
When I doble clck on VS X9 icon I get msg : Error 4: VideoStudio files have been damaged or modified. Pleas reinstall your original source.
When I try to reinstall nothing happens.
When I try to uninstall VS X9 (in order to reinstall later) I get msg : Setup.xml can't be loaded.
What can I do to ? I think I have to reinstall it but how ? In addition no change when I restore Window 7.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
You only needed to uninstall AND HIDE two updates - no need to remove KB3134814
if you did not hide the two updates they will have installed themselves again
I take it from your post that X9 is still installed but will not run
have you installed Service Pack 1 - it solved the problem for a number of people
Service pack one can be found here - - http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/
can you download and install that and see what happens

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
I have uninstalled and hide the two subject update. For information VS X8 and VS X6 works correctly on the same PC.
My VS X9 is still installed, it worked 1 day only, before the famous update..
I cannot uninstall or reinstall it.
Just now I download and install Service Pack 1 but nothing changed.

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
If the windows "Uninstall a programme" in the control panel will not work then the only option is to use a dedicated programme to remove the programme
a tried and tested programme is Revo Unistaller - available from here - - http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html
first delete the obvious bits of the programme such as
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9
C:\Users\Brian\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\19.0
C:\Users\Brian\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0
You may need to 'unhide' hidden folders in the control panel to see the last one
then run the Revo Unistaller which should remove all extra bits of the programme and allow you to do a new clean install of X9

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
Yesterday I followed your Schedule without success.
First, using revouninstaller program number 3 and 4, I get the following msg : Application Uninstaller Failed. It is possible that the command is invalid. But the uninstallation continue.
Then I start to reinstall VS X9. I get msg : A problem occurred during installation. Please contact the technical support. All files needed are in the computer but VS X9 don't sart. I get again Error 4: VideoStudio files have been damaged or modified. Pleas reinstall your original source.
I thing something stay into my computer. I dn't know what or where.
For information : I have reinstalled VS X6 for a check and I works.
Thank you anyway.

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
I too have started experiencing a similar issue. I am running Windows 10 64-bit, and had been using VS X8 Pro with no issues when the X9 upgrade was offered. I upgraded to X9 Ultimate 64-bit and used it until the past day or two. It began to crash and shut itself down every 10 minutes or so - and it wasn't consistently related to a heavy workload, file formats, or certain functions/effects being used, etc. It would just stop - guaranteed - every 10-20 minutes.
Corel tech support suggested that I uninstall and reinstall, which I tried, and now I can't get a complete install. The X9 setup is getting a false positive, and shows the 3 main download files (Main Program, Standard Content, Bonus Features) as "Installed" already. The option at the bottom to "Download/Install" is grayed out, and I can only choose "Download Only." From here I can skip very quickly through the steps of the install, with nothing actually taking place. Clicking "Install" at the end immediately takes me to the final splash screen with a green check mark, saying it was installed successfully. I click Finish, and there are no shortcuts on the desktop, no program to be found anywhere. The one time I got a different result, was with my AVG antivirus turned off. I then got desktop shortcuts, but they didn't function. I have also done this with the "Do not download installed modules again" option unchecked, sat through the downloads, and arrived at the same end result. In this case, as well as the one time the shortcuts were created, I found that there was no actual .exe for the program within the folder it installed to.
If anyone has any insight to a solution, I'm all ears. I currently do not have a functioning X9, which all my project files are saved in, and am not interesting in starting over with my old X8. I've tried removing all remnants of the original X9, installing in safe mode, installing the 32-bit version, turning off anti-ware, re-downloading the X9 setup file from Corel - I keep seeing the same results. I have seen other posts talking about removing certain Windows Updates, but their update reference numbers (usually from Windows 7 or older) don't seem to correspond with Windows 10 updates.

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
Two places to check - on your desktop are there any folders showing for 'Videostudio X9' - if there is delete them they are part of the setup process and will prevent a new set up if still present
Second place - -- C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9 -- note the (X86) not the normal program files
if that still has a 'setup' folder in it that will prevent a new install - - delete the folder if present
if that does not solve the problem then several users have had success with a free 'unistaller' programme

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
Hi
Sorry I did not see the original post otherwise I would have commented earlier
I had a 2 similar problem where the program did not install correctly, could not run, install or uninstall the program.
One instance was when I terminated installation before the Web Installer had finished, I did expect it to roll back giving the message nothing has changed, but not so.
I did approach Corel for a Cleanup tool, that fell on deaf ears
I used Revo to “force an uninstall” “remove leftovers” as windows uninstaller refused to do the job
I was new to Revo so wasn’t confident in using it, just a learning curve.
I then did a manual clean of the registry to remove any other leftovers that revo had missed
Eventually I was able to install again.
If you cannot get X9 working…
Your CVSX9 projects can be saved to open in X8
How many do you have
Can you Zip and attach to your post, we can open and save for X8

Stomvi2
Have you tried manually installing the programs.
Locate the download folder, open the 64 bit folder, open Ultimate folder
Double click Setup.exe
That should launch the installer, add your serial number and install

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
Thanks to all for the responses -- I have managed to get things up and running again. Ended up digging out my backup of "Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9" folder. Cleared all the old stuff out. Copied everything in from the backup. X9 lives again. NOW if I could just get it to stop rendering videos with glitchy audio (suddenly started happening this evening)........
UPDATE: I believe the source of the audio glitchy-ness has been coming from transition effects between video clips. I have only been using the basics - "crossfade" and "fade to black." I removed them all, rendered again, and the audio issues appear to have stopped... Any advice on how to make transitions usable again?

Hi stomvi2
I don’t know why some users have problems with transitions and audio, it could be the type of video files you are using, you do not give any details of them or their properties.
Sometimes deselecting Smart Render may cure the Transition / Audio glitches
From the Share page- left of Start button, deselect Enable Smart Render, will take longer to render.
Does that improve sound?

Re: VS X9 don't work after Windows update
All original files were mp4 1080p, 30fps, and always worked before. I'm wondering if there's something going on with the latest Windows 10 update people are talking about. This long struggle seemed to all start the same date as the last major windows update.
At the end of the day, I took all my video clips and downgraded to my old GoPro software. I now have a finished product. Just couldn't rely on VideoStudio to produce anything that I could use, and I tried everything short of buying a different computer. Thanks for trying to help out though; I appreciate that these forums exist and that there are people who are willing to offer solutions!
