Create Circle

Post by econnelly »

HI

I am working my Family’s History and have a bunch of picture with a lot of people in them. I am trying to create a circle or square and paste it by each of the people in the picture so I can put a number in it to identify the people. Not have much luck. I have Corel Paint Shop Pro 8. Can someone help?

Thanks

You can use the Preset Shapes tool with foreground transparent and background your choice of color. That has Squares and Ellipses .

Draw the square / circle on a new layer and draw as Raster - that lets you move the circle / square around to position it.

Then use the text tool with a contrasting color to place the numbers in the square / circle.

Some years ago, I made myself a set of Picture Tube numbers, a circle with a number in it.
I can't attach Picture tubes, but here is a transparent .png file.
Select, Copy & Paste the numbers you need.
If you need more than 10, you will have to make some more, using the Vector circle Q.

These are quite old by now, but luckily PSP hasn't changed their vector tools very much.

Rectangle Tool - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZQ7Ud5ykAY
Ellipse Tool - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2011ZSqOYU

Those are some basics on creating rectangles and ellipses. You can either make them as vector layers and move the layers where you want them, or you can make them as rasters on individual raster layers. Doing them as rasters is harder.

You can use the pick tool or move tool to move the shapes into place. You can also copy and paste the layers as new layers to duplicate them once you have just the right size. Or you can use PSP's objects menu to make two different objects the same width and height. Makes it handy to quickly create several shapes, select them all with the pick tool then go to Objects -> Make Same Size -> Both to make them all the same width and height.
