Program Start PSPX8

Post by llcobb »

OK anyone else having a problem getting PSPX8 to load. I can load it ONE time only and if I close it, I have to RESTART my computer before it will load again. task manager says it is running but it's not showing up anywhere. I'm using the trial version, don't know if that makes a difference and I'm using Windows 8.1. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

task manager says it is running but it's not showing up anywhere.
If it is listed in Task Manager, have you simply highlighted the PSP entry in Processes and clicked on the End Task button in the bottom right of the Task Manager screen? Or if the still running entry is in Services, you highlight the entry, right click and select Stop?

This sometimes happens to me with the full version, but stopping it in Task Manager always works, and no reboot is needed...

I have experienced the same issue and cure it with the same solution Ken provided. You have to stop it in processes and/or services and then try opening PSP again and it should open. I have seen this as an intermittent issue with PSP since the Jasc days, at least as far back as PSP 9.

Yes thank you I have gone into task manager and found it running under Background processes and I end task there. I have not gone through all the services to see if something else might still be running and then try and start it again. I will look at that next time I close PSP without thinking. lol Thank you for you help.!

Is this problem after the X8 update? Regardless, one heck of a bug.

No. As I said in my post, this issue has been a PSP issue since the Jasc days. Also, it doesn't happen regularly but it intermittent. If you try to open PSP and it doesn't open at all then that's likely the problem and then you have to close the process that kept running since your last use of the program. Not a regular occurrence.

Could this problem have something to do with my Wacom pen tablet? Does anyone know? I think I saw something in the hundreds of threads I've scanned trying to find a solution to my problem, but for the life of me, I don't know where I saw it.

Doubt it. I don't have a Wacom tablet and have not used any other tablet for many years...

As Ken Berry said, I also don't have a tablet but still have the intermittent issue with PSP. So it's definitely not associated with your tablet. It's a PSP thing, and it isn't OS dependent because when I had Jasc's PSP9 I was using XP as my OS and still had the intermittent issue.

I too have had a wacom tablet since PSPX and I do remember having some issue with the table and PSP but not sure what version. I did what was suggested to into services and see what is still running after I closed the PSPX8, and didn't find anything except Corel License Validation Service V2, Powered by arvato and when I stopped that services and restarted PSPX8 I got a message that the program was corupt and I needed to re install, so I did like I had two times earlier. I then looked and found there were two services for wacom that did not need to be running, at least I hoped as I hit "end task", they were Wacom Consumer Service and Wacom Professional Service after I stopped these and restarted PSPX8 it loaded with NO problem what so ever. didn't have to restart computer or anything. I closed it a second time and opened it again. no problem. who knows. It works tonight, we'll see if it will work tomorrow. I'm using Wacom Inuit tablet, not sure if that makes a difference or not.
