PSPX8 paintbrushes crash program

I'm running windows 8.1 and have installed PSPX8 trial 32, 32 because I want to use my older plugins, ie: bladepro, eyecandy, etc. anyway my brushes which previously worked in X7 now crash X8. I only have a few fur brushes loaded, so it's not like there are too many for the program to handle. Any suggestions? :?
