Re: Sample Work Flows
1. In the Edit tab, is Multi Clip Trim normally recommended over Single Clip Trim?
2. If the answer is yes, is it because one could then have more Clips available on the Timeline?

Re: Sample Work Flows
Hi Virg
First I don’t use the trim options but prefer to use the scissors along with the F3/F4 Mark in Mark out options.
The single trim does just what it says, trims the video effectively removing frames from the ends.
Multi Trim will allow us to select several ranges using the (Mark-In Mark-Out F3/F4) splitting our clip in to several segments.
If you used the scissors to cut your clip into several parts, lets say 6 parts, now we have 6 clips, remove the end frames of each clip and you have manually applied Multi trim.
We can of course use multi trim to remove the end frames, effectively applying a single trim, so I guess Single trim is not required as Multi trim does the job anyway.

Re: Sample Work Flows
Single trim/multi trim - mark in/mark out - F3/F4 - all seems a lot on unnecessary work to me
I edit my videos exactly the same way as I edited my movie clips - put it in the timeline and start at the beginning - move the cursor to the point you want the video to begin - use the scissor tool - delete the first section -move the cursor to where you want the fist scene to end - use the scissor tool - move the cursor to where you want the second scene to start - use the scissor tool - delete the bit between the two cuts - move the cursor to where the second scene ends - use the scissor tool - etc. etc. etc.
but however you edit - and the choice is yours - you can have however many clips you want in the timeline - editing does not affect that.

As you say Brian the choice is yours, a personal preference, I use the scissors but find the Mark-in Mark out useful
“I edit my videos exactly the same way as I edited my movie clips - put it in the timeline and start at the beginning - move the cursor to the point you want the video to begin”
Now I select Mark-In F3 removes the first section. Where it allows I use F3 / F4 rather than a cut and delete.

Re: Sample Work Flows
Have encountered a problem in the Capture tab when trying to import my next mini dvd's (just like my previous videos that were taken with my Sony Handycam camcorder). Have tried three mini dvd's now that play on a blu ray player connected to a TV, but now when I > Capture tab, > insert the next mini dvd into my E drive, > Import from Digital Media, > Start, and wait for Title and Chapter clips to appear inside the Import from Digital Media pop up box; they don't appear.
They had been previously started appearing in less than two to four minutes, but suddenly now, none of them appear; even after waiting for more than 45 minutes. Thanks to your help, I was really making great progress until this happened.
Any suggestions as to what might have gone awry, or what I should do to overcome this problem?

Hi Virg
I don’t have a Mini DVD camcorder but assume the disc works the same for full sized discs.
From Import Digital Media, first panel, did you browse and select the Disc Drive and the Video _ TS folder?? Similar to this image?

Re: Sample Work Flows
Still using VS X9 Ultimate, but after upgrading from MS Windows 8.1 to MS Windows 10, I have encountered problems capturing my Sony Handycam videos when selecting "Import from digital media" in the Capture tab. The import process is now an exceptionally long time frame (in access of an hour and a half) and then fails completely.
1. Has this problem been experienced and reported by others?
2. If so, are there some additional software program upgrades recommended to resolve this problem?

Re: Sample Work Flows
Hi Virg
I am still using Windows 7, I did try W10 but the pc is on the old side so would have to update that, I had lots of problems with W10.
Others using Windows 10 may be able to help.
The latest update for X9 takes the version to 19.2.0.4, is that what you see from Help – About.
If no then check for Updates.
Otherwise you are running the latest version.
I do not recall this being reported by others, so maybe contact Corel Support or Corel on Facebook.
Sony Handycam, does the camera provide any software to upload the discs to your PC, then import to VS to edit.

1. Yes, I checked and I'm using VS X9 Ultimate version 19.2.0.4.
2. And in answer to your question, From Import Digital Media, first panel, did you browse and select the Disc Drive and the Video _ TS folder?? Similar to this image?
, yes I do that.
3. Haven't found any additional instructions or software suggestions in my Sony Handycam recorder User's Manual to address my issue.
Thanks for the ideas and I'll certainly try any other suggestions if there are any. Virg

Re: Sample Work Flows
Can you also confirm that you tick the little boxes which appear in the top left (IIRC) of the various frames which appear once you have selected the Video_TS folder... That indicates which bits of the video you want to import.

Re: Sample Work Flows
Hi Virg
Do you normally finalise the disc in camera before trying to import to your pc?
If yes , did you do that?
Can you provide images of the last window you manage to get to when trying to import the disc?

Re: Sample Work Flows
To Trevor's question, "Do you normally finalize the disc in camera before trying to import to your pc?" Yes, I have always finalized the discs in the Sony Handycam camera after completion of filming. This inability to import problem only started after I recently upgraded to Windows 10, so I will also try to provide an image of the last "Import from digital media" window I have when trying to import the disc, as soon as I replace Windows 10 and go back to Windows 8.1.
To Ken's question, Can you also confirm that you tick the little boxes which appear in the top left (IIRC) of the various frames which appear once you have selected the Video_TS folder... That indicates which bits of the video you want to import, I don't get that far into the import process to be able to tick the little boxes in the upper left corner because the thumbnails for the Titles and associated Chapters on the disc never appear in their associated boxes, even after allowing more than hours.
My thought is these discs are ok because I have been able to view them on a Samsung flat screen TV via a Sony Blu ray DVR.
Many thanks to Ken and Trevor - Virg

Hi Virg
I wonder if Windows 10 is reading the disc as copyright.
Are you able to copy the Video TS folder from the disc to your pc using Windows Explorer?
