.TIF is NOT a Canon RAW extension!
I was able to open *.TIF files in X6 no problem. Since upgrading to X8 it insists on running Camera Raw Lab every time I try to open a TIF file. Clicking on Details it says TIF is a Canon Raw file; it isn't!
I won't ever need to use CRL. I still have X6 but unfortunately it has got corrupted by all that X8 stuff. I can't see the CRL stuff in Program Files.
How can I get X8 to open TIF files?
File,Open in X8 32bit.

Tiff is not always tiff!! Depending on the program that created/saved it and how the save was configured. ie if there was any transparencies in the tiff PSP will treat it like a raw file. Some tiffs/programs can save with layers. PSP doesn't know what to do with these tiffs so has a tantrum and tries open them as a raw file.
You may need to go back and confirm how your tiffs were saved. Why x6 opened them and not x8 is beyond my knowledge.

TIFF is TIFF!
Certainly since my PSP 9.02 in 2005 (JASC's 9 had a nasty bug, fixed by Corel).
The *.tif file I want to work on displays perfectly in Photoshop CS5 without any hassle.
Older *.tif files I have tried get stuck at the top of the PSP X8 screen in Edit mode.
Back to your terminals, Corel programmers!
Back to my problem:
1. I can send the file to someone influential in Corel (if they are anyway interested) so they can send me a patch or a free X9 with this bug sorted..
2. Failing that, I hope I can re-install X6.
And can I get a refund for my useless X8 upgrade?

pjbw what I mean by tiff is not always tiff is that you can save tiffs a number of ways. For instance I use Photoline as my main editor. Work in the Photoline format. But if I need to work on an image or layer in PSP I need to save it as a tiff before sending it over to PSP. Now in doing so I have to be careful how that tiff is saved. If the tiff is saved with any layers in it or one of the less well used formats then PSP will have a fit and try to open it as a raw file.
Some of the smarter folks on these forum should know what tiffs PSP can and can't open.

Re: File,Open in X8 32bit.
My X8 is getting worse by the minute!
I note a 'reportabug' post in this thread which I will certainly follow up. I hope they can save me from Adobe!
I uninstalled my corrupted X6 and tried to re-install it. Unfortunately my original installation code, serial number and activation code were ignored and PSP Support no longer know about it.
When I joined my local camera club along with saying that my camera was obsolete so was PSP! Years ago I had bought Photoshop CS2. Even Adobe knew it was terrible for Windows and I was able to upgrade relatively cheaply to CS5 - much better but it still did not support dual monitors (programmer for 20 years and can't work without) which PSP as far as X6 at any rate does/did perfectly.
Another bug in X8 is the Edit screen which is immovably split in two horizontally- <right Click> options no help, only a File menu option at the top, nothing about the Edit Workspace in Help.
