Corel newbie here, trying to transfer license to a new PC!!!

Post by marcianok23 »

Hi there,

On January 29th, 2015, I bought the Corel Photo Video Suite X6 from Newegg. I mainly wanted it to do some light photo and video editing, just for home videos and nothing much more than that.

I initially installed both PaintShop Pro X6 and VideoStudio Pro X6 on my downstairs computer, but have since built a nicer computer that I would like to have these programs moved to. I uninstalled completely so the license key can be transferred, but cannot find my installation disc (at least I'm pretty sure I bought the version that was a physical CD). I now cannot find any Photo Video Suite X6 programs to download, rendering my license unusable at the moment.

I guess what I'm looking for are the installation files for the Photo Video Suite X6, given that I now have a license key for it. Please help! Thanks in advance!!

I think you are out of luck if you can't find the discs or downloaded files. You could contact Corel and see if you can get a discount upgrade price to their current version. For future reference you can have Corel programs installed on more than one computer, you just can't run them both at the same time- so no need to uninstall since license allows for multiple use.

You can go to Corel.com to see if you registered your product. Once you sign in there is a link for registered products that you can check for your serial number.

Thanks for the advice, I think I am just out of luck. If anybody happens to know where I can find the installation for the Photo Video Suite X6 that would be amazing! Thanks again for the responses at least.

So lesson to be learned. If software is valuable to you , back it up. If download then make a couple of copies in different places. I have a folder on my C drive of each of my computers (and external backups ) called New Programs and in there are all the programs I have downloaded + a pdf showing purchase details and a text file showing the Licence.

If CD then place them all in the one place and if possible make a back up copy and keep that in another place. Sometimes the installation files on the CD can be copied to a folder and installation done from there so that can be placed in the New Programs folder as well.

Yes I agree. Every time I download any programs or updates I save them to an external drive. Only ever had to use them once but that was once too many times.
I even had a Word document on the external drive with all registration numbers etc.
