VS pro 7x will not start up. Pease Help!

Post by jungleexplorer »

I have 7X Ultimate installed on a Win 7 Premium desktop PC. I have been using for about a year now with no problems on this system. Now suddenly today, it will not start up. I click the icon to start it up and nothing happens. In the Windows Task Manager, VS does show up as running for a few seconds, but then it goes away. I tried restarting my computer, but that did nothing. I did an uninstall and reinstall of VS and that did nothing either. Can someone please help me!

A windows update on the 9th caused this problem to all versions of Video Studio

For X8 Corel have provided a hot fix, although we expect a new hot fix to be rolled out shortly
http://dwnld.videostudiopro.com/updates ... tFix_2.exe

For X7 As a temporary measure instructions to manually uninstall the Windows Updates---

In Control Panel, Programs and Features, click View Installed Updates.
- Remove KB3126587 and/or KB3126593
- Do NOT reboot.
- Run Check for Updates again.
- Hide updates KB3126587 and/or KB3126593.

Uninstall updates will reset for all versions of CVSX, as far as we know?

Thanks! I did a system restore back to the 10th and that fixed the problem. Please let me know when Corel has a fix for this as the windows update that I had to uninstall was listed as "CRITICAL". This means that my system is now unsecure. If Corel does not want to fix the problem, they could offer an upgrade to 8X, since they permanently are willing to fix that version. IMOH.

Hi

Please watch the forum or Corel web site Support for more info.

As far as we know corel are to provide a fix for X7, don’t know when?

Your windows will update again then you will have the same problems

Best to set auto updates to Download only, let me decide….
Then you can view those updates and hide, till a fix is provided.

Yep! That already happened. Oh well! Glad to hear Corel will issue a fix for 7X. Guess I have hold my breath until they do. LOL!

You could simply hide the updates so they don't install

In Control Panel, Programs and Features, click View Installed Updates. Top left
- Remove KB3126587 and/or KB3126593
- Do NOT reboot.

Now go to
Control Panel - Windows Updates
Run Check for Updates, it should find the two updates
View updates to install
Select update , right click
Hide updates KB3126587 and/or KB3126593.
