Hi all,
I cannot get animated GIF files to work in my VS ult x8. I looked through the forum and made sure I had Quicktime on my computer (I have v7). I downloaded the 4_colorful_bears gif and inserted it into my project (following the capture 07 video), but it does not work either. If I try the method of importing a media file into my timeline, when I select a GIF I just get an error message saying QuickTime is required to open MOV files. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

OK, I finally got it to work: I uninstalled x8. It would not install again with Quicktime v7. So I uninstalled v7 and tried again. VSx8 wouldn't run until I ran the hotfix. Still the GIF would not work. So I uninstalled everything again including the two MS updates 587 & 593. Then I ran SP3 for VSx8. It works. So, I wonder if the hotfix broke the GIF function.

I just upgraded to x9, which left my x8 install intact. Is it safe to uninstall VSx8? With x9 can I reinstall the MS updates 587 & 593? Thank you.

There is no problem having both X8 & X9 .
Why you want to install those MS updates? you didn't have enough troubles so far?

Ha ha. Trouble - yes. But I have a solid state drive and I would like to free up the space. But as you say, so much trouble, I'm leery of removing v8.
