VSP x9 - fault - double clicking on a project

Hi

I was due an upgrade from my previous version (VSPx6) and since downloading VSPx9, the simplest of tasks won't work. Whether VSP is open or not in the background, I can't open a project by simply double clicking on it. I'm running on Windows 7 so the next step to take is to

1/ Right click
2/ Choose a default program to open with

However, VSP cannot be found. Even if I select the VSP.exe file by browsing through to find it, it doesn't work.

Fortunately in the meantime, I can open my projects from VSP itself by File>Open Project.

I've checked it out on my Windows 10 laptop and the same thing happens. The project icon on display is just like a blank A4 sheet rather than a Corel logo of some kind.

Is there a solution/patch/fix?

Unfortunately X9 was only released a couple of days ago and it's all a bit new to us

The only thing that occurred to me is have you tried doing it "in reverse"

that is go "Start >> Default programmes >> Associate a file type or protocol with a programme"

once that fully loads look for the extension .vsp and click on 'change program' - will that find Videostudio ?

Tried your suggestion. It only leads me back to the original window where it asks me what program do I want to associate with. Unfortunately, VSP doesn't appear on any menus as one of the programs that I can associate files with.

Why are you looking for VSP.exe? There is no such application. You should be looking for vstudio.exe. Also the desktop shortcut shows you where the file is.

BTW, the programs are not called "VSP", the are called VS X? where the ? stands for 4, 5....9

If you can run the X9 program from its desktop icon, go to File menu – Open Project and browse for your project file, that is the best option to opening your projects.

Does that open the project.

As a test with Video Studio X9 open, browse Windows Explorer for your project file . vsp, double click should load to timelines.
