Update from x5 to x9 should I go 32 or 64 bit x9?

Post by delaluz »

I'm going to upgrade my x5 ultimate to the new x9 which should be released shortly. I may just buy the complete license instead of the upgrade.

My question is should I upgrade to the 32 bit or 64 bit version ovf x9?

I'm running W7 pro 64 bit on a dell z210 workstation
-4 core intel xeon E3 1240 cpu
-16 gig ram
-500 gb ssd
-nvidia NVS graphics card

I'v edited 2 projects on this current set up & it was MUCH better than my old machine.

Are there any disadvantages or concerns to going with 64 bit Videostudio?

if you currently have X5 then you do not qualify for the upgrade price and will have to buy the full version

If you have a 64 bit computer why would you not buy the 64 bit version - it's the same price.

The only reason I wouldn't is if the 64 bit version was "buggier" than the 32 bit version.

If there are no obvious gotchas I'll go with the 64 bit version.

The only obvious "gotcha" is the same for all 32 vs. 64 bit questions: if you bought plug-ins for X5 that are 32 bit, they obviously won't work if you want to use them with X9 64 bit. Otherwise, if you buy the Ultimate package, all the added plug-ins (Boris, NewBlue, proDAD) are 64 bit already -- although they also come in 32 bit versions for those who buy the x32 bit version of X9.

Again, thanks for the input! Looks like I'm going 64 bit Feb 16 when x9 goes on sale.
