My VSP x6 failed to open after this Windows 7 update. I've uninstalled the update from Windows so I can now reopen VSP.

I have downloaded the patch from this thread.

Should I install the patch first, then apply the Windows update or should it be the other way around?

I note this patch was for X8. Will it work for X6?

No, it is specifically for X8. We are encouraging Corel to develop patches for earlier versions, but are not particularly hopeful...

VideoStudio Ultimate X8.5 would'nt start after the latest Windows update. I downloaded and executed the hotfix. VS did start, but there are at least 36 templates not working. Difficult to understand why V-53.VSP and some others are not working in VS, but are with Corel FastFlick X8. All my « swf » Flash animations are not playing. Files cannot be read and are not onmy hard drive anymore. See attached document.

I think that Corel is a major company and should be able to request that Microsoft fix all those problems.

Unfortunately it all seems to be related to the latest windows update - at the moment none of us here have a working answer - we have advised Corel and asked them for an urgent solution but nothing has appeared so far.

Although VS was full functional after I executed the hotfix, I had other problems. I read all pages of the posts. I've uninstalled KB3126587, did not reboot as suggested by Iata. I then uninstalled KB3125693. I stopped my computer. Windows asked me to not close and it took a long, BUT LONG LONG time to close. I started my computer, then VideoStudio. SURPRISE everything is back and FUNCTIONAL (Instant projects templates and SWF Flash animations).

Download hotfix from : http://dwnld.videostudiopro.com/updates ... tFix_2.exe. Execute it. Uninstall KB3126587, do NOT reboot as suggested by Iata. Uninstal KB3125693. Close your computer. Windows will ask you to not close and it takes a long, BUT LONG LONG time to close. Start your computer, then VideoStudio.

This is exactly what I did and SURPRISE everything is back and FUNCTIONAL (Instant projects templates and SWF Flash animations).

Thanks for the info, don’t really understand whats going on here, the only problem I had was the program not starting, uninstalling the windows updates allowed the program to run, I did not have any other problems. So very strange that others loose program functions. Instant Projects and SWF being a problem?

Ok spoke too soon again, I have just tried the Graphics Flash Library FL-F16 and incredibly an error says the file does not exist. FL-F16,swf
The re-link is targeting the E drive which is completely wrong, it should be looking in C drive.
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X9\Samples\Video
And when I try to re-link I get a File Format Mismatch.

Incredible. At the moment I have Windows updates installed, wonder what happens when I uninstall those again?

Uninstalling Windows Updates allows Flash files (SWF) to work ok, some SwF files are used in Instant Projects so they should also work ok.
Installing the Hotfix2 simply allows the program X8 to run but does not address the SWF issue.

Well I've done everything JaRo and Lata have done and mine still doesn't work. It doesn't recognize my .swf files and when I try to relink I too get file format mismatch. Uninstalling the windows updates didn't do anything for me and the hotfix2 didn't do a thing either.

very strange, I have just run through a install uninstall of the windows update and it certainly makes a difference to my program.

I know it sounds daft but I assume you have disabled Windows auto updates to stop the Updates installing again when you re-boot the pc.

Go to Program And Features, top left for View Installed Updates are KB3126587 and KB3126593 listed?

There are no updates KB3126587 and KB3126593 listed. I haven't disabled Windows auto updates either.

I have just had a problem after allowing the two windows updates to install - after I had applied the X8 Hotfix I found my 'Instant Projects' folder was missing in the library

After trying a number of things I found that resetting the library cured my problem

Please try this (assuming you have already installed the X8 Hotfix)

Open videostudio and click on "settings" then "library manager" then "Reset library"

you should then see a number of messages flash by and eventually you should get a small window asking if you want to install custom templates - say yes to that

for me that restored my instant projects - I have my fingers crossed for you

Well that did something at least. My custom projects work now but I only have 3 of them. I had 10 or so before. And of course the ones I don't have now are the ones I used the most. lol
