Instant Projects suddenly missing this morning

I've made several videos using the instant projects on my Video Studio Ult x8 and this morning when I called everything up I'm missing a few. What's the deal? I paid for my x8 and now some don't work? Is there an expatriation date on them?

No they don't get expatriated - and they don't even expire

Microsoft has just carried out a fairly major update to Windows 7 and for many people this has resulted in Videostudio not working at all - so you are lucky if you can still open X8

Corel have issued a hotfix for X8 users on Win 7 - it is designed to overcome the problem of Videostudio not starting - it *may* solve your problem - it is certainly worth a try - download the hotfix from - http://dwnld.videostudiopro.com/updates ... tFix_2.exe

I downloaded it but when I call up the project it seems as though links are missing entirely. Original file [C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\EditingStyle\InstantProject\T-06\HD-Project09_Object02.swf] doesn't exist.

2 when you get the error message do you get an option to 'Relink' in the error box ?

And can you find that file on your pc?

Another windows update affected Flash, we assume you have Flash installed on your pc?

1. I assume you're asking after I downloaded hotfix did I run it? No, I'm stupid and didn't even think to run it. Why would I download something and not run it? Sorry about the sarcasm, yes I ran it.

2. Yes, I get an option to "Relink" but it's no longer there to relink. That's why I was wondering if Corel has some kind of time limit. I mean it would be smart for them to have people buy their product and invest all their time into certain custom graphic functions and then have it simply go away so their customers have to purchase it back. I have 3 "instant projects" that I use almost daily and now suddenly their no longer there and can't be relinked?

Yes I have flash on my pc but it rarely works for me. I use firefox and my flash crashes so much I don't even pay attention to it anymore.

I discovering now that I'm missing lots of custom files. I go to bed after running everything fine and wake up the next day and it doesn't work? Who do I send the bill to, Corel or Microsoft? Not that either one of them cares I'm losing time and money.

So you are saying that there is not a file at all in the location

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\EditingStyle\InstantProject\T-06\HD-Project09_Object02.swf


Do you have a folder at all at - C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\EditingStyle\InstantProject\T-06 - what does it contain

but you do need Flash working correctly to display and play .swf files

Everything is in the file you directed me to but there is a Shockwave flash object that's there but isn't recognized? Not sure why?

Video Studio needs Flash to view the SWF files

Try Resetting your program by re-naming the folder 18.0 to “18.0 old”
This will / should reset the libraries.

You may be best to first backup your libraries…..

If you wish to change back simply rename the folder to use the 18.0 old again

The Folder is hidden by the operating system so either change the folder view options, or insert %appdata% in the search box to locate the roaming folder.

I have flash on my computer. Renaming 18 to 18 old didn't do a thing. That file is in Documents anyway and not programs.

I took a screen shot of the message that come up when I try to relink but I can't post the picture here.

I found where I needed to change 18.0 to 18.0 0ld and it didn't fix anything. I'm probably screwed. This is most likely a Corel thing so that I have to upgrade and buy their newest version.

Can we just review the facts

!. You were using your computer and were happy with the way Videostudio was behaving

2. Microsoft messed with your computer and changed a number of things that you didn't ask them to

3. Videostudio stopped working

How does that make it Corels fault

If you were driving your car along the road and another car crashed into yours writing yours off - would that make it the fault of YOUR cars manufacturer ?

Read the many other posts on this forum regarding the problems that others have been through with this latest Windows 7 update - many have solved them by applying the hotfix - some have un-installed two of the updates - they are now using Videostudio again - it just seems that Shockwave is somehow different on your computer.

It sounds very much as though Microsoft has damaged your Shockwwave/Flash installation - have you tried repairing that - or even un-installing Shockwave and re-installing the latest version
