VideoStudio X8 not executing program

Hi, I'm new here, mainly to get some answers about this issue I've gotten today. My program of Corel VideoStudio X8 Ultimate refuses to run the software. It was working fine yesterday, and I've really gotten into using it. But now mysteriously it just doesn't work.

For instance, whenever I double-click on the shortcut icon like I usually do, the .exe will show up on the Task Manager briefly, and then gives up and disappears within a few moments. I also checked the shortcuts for other parts of the software like screencap, and the same thing happens. Strangely enough, my VideoStudio X3 is unaffected by this.

I have tried restarting the system, and I have tried Uninstalling/Reinstalling. But nothing seems to be working. The only thing I can think of is a system restore to yesterday before a big update on my computer happened, but I'm not willing to risk that yet.

Anyone have any idea what to do?

Sheesh laweesh. I never would have figured this one update would mess with so many people. I'll try a system restore, but perhaps during the weekend. Still a bit nervous about this whole thing.

for X8 ONLY - Corel have issued a hotfix which you can download from here http://dwnld.videostudiopro.com/updates ... tFix_2.exe

It has worked for many people - might be worth trying first before you bite the bullet and do a restore
