Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Hi herein2015
I agree with Brian, the text editor is quite versatile, I very rarely use the samples but create my own from scratch. Typing to the preview screen works well.
The only drawback is text wrapping when pasting long text as the characters can move off screen. Spell checker may improve things for me as I seem to have a dyslexic keyboard.
So for long text I compose using Word (spell check) then Copy and Paste to Video Studio.
I guess it is a little different to word and needs a little practice, but it is a Video Editor and does a good job with text.

Just to add my 2c .... and if Boris Graffiti is not up for your job , than nothing will.
But I understand your reservations, it's a mater of aesthetics and "to keep up with the Johnson's"
Some times it takes me half of total edit session just to compose a proper title to my aesthetics liking in relation to the video.
** And we still don't have kerning....

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
I've dug through all of the title editor options, maybe I need to look through them again, but making something as simple as a semi-transparent box 300px x 300px with a 2px white border as a panel that slides in from the left 1/3'rd of the screen with text centered in the panel to show a description of something the viewer is seeing takes me 30s in Paint.Net and seems impossible in VideoStudio. VideoStudio's background options for text are only fit with text or fill screen, no way to set options like padding, or pixel widths, border, border color, border width, etc.lata wrote:Hi herein2015

If I could do this in VideoStudio I could then use keyframes and animation to make more interactive titles like this one: https://youtu.be/5HKkbwVEXIk?t=6s

Herein, you are right, it takes 30 sec in graphics so that's the way to do it.
Do a 15' break in the middle of video editing , refresh your thoughts with graphics software and another 15' at the end.
That way you can stock dozens of png's for use along the way.
or... use Boris, but it will might take you longer.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
I have been a VS user since x5. I would like VS to provide a do it yourself diagnostic tool to analysis error msg. Many times when I have encountered a problem in editing or rendering. VS only prompt that it stopped working and close the software or it told a error log has been created. I wish VS can provide a mean to analysis the error log so we can correct the problem instead of opening a ticket with VS. It will same VS resources and my time.

Better audio handling
Let me preface this post by saying I'm a Corel fan, having used CorelDraw since version 3, PaintShop Pro since X5, AfterShot Pro since version 1, and VideoStudio X7.
There's only 1 thing that prevents me from using VideoStudio, and it's the ability to align audio precisely, without the limitations of frame-based alignment.
I purchased VS X7, loved it for the video aspect, but hated it for audio.
The problem is that without the ability to PRECISELY align audio, such as from an external audio recorder, then there's no way to mix audio from multiple sources without getting an echo effect. A frame on 30fps video is about 33 milliseconds, and being off by half that amount produced a heavy reverb effect. Even 5 ms difference produces a noticeable effect.
When I used VS X7, I had to edit the audio in another application, which slowed things down more than I cared for.
Other than this, my only problems with the software are in the "how do I ...." category, as the interface didn't seem to be as easy to use as Sony Movie Studio, at least version 12, which is what I went to after getting frustrated with VS X7.
In this, (and this may be just something I don't know how to do), it seemed that the only way to edit videos was to first import them to the library, and when you were done editing one set of videos, you had to delete them from the library before starting to work on the next project. I love the way Sony Movie Studio allows you to browse the hard drive and bring media in directly to the timeline. It's also one of the things I really like about AfterShot Pro.
If I had another wish to add to the list, it would be to provide more timeline-based (accessible directly on the timeline) tools for fades, composite levels, and so on. Here again, this is what I really like about CorelDraw, in that I can manipulate the graphics directly, as the tools are right where I want them to be.
Thanks.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
I love the product but, I have not mastered it by any stretch of the imagination. So, maybe I haven't yet found the proper options to enable me to do the following.
(1) When I have multiple photos inserted already into ANY of the timelines (including the top line), I'd love to be able to left-click on any one of them (or use <CTRL>left-click to select more than one of them to create a group) and have the one(s) I selected become "highlighted" in my Library pane. That way, I could locate them easily. Currently, the photos in my timeline(s) have only numbers (not names) to identify them since they are all screen-captured images. Without the automatic highlighting, it's takes far too much time to look through the many small photos in the Library merely to find specific ones, easily.
(2) Also, regarding previewing sounds and music files in the Library, I wish I could PLAY the individual sound/music files by right-clicking on them to begin playing the sound or, at least, have a "Play" option included into a pop-up when right-clicking a sound/music file icon). Since there are so many to choose from (and, they have no meaningful names!), I find it cumbersome to move the cursor way across the screen (repeatedly!) to click on the "Play" button for each and every sound/music file I want to preview.

I'll be glad to see light flares, optical flares, 3D lens flares etc. Maybe get them to the Boris pluggin. In other words adding more effects to our Boris Graffiti version 6. We need better backgrounds with motion graphics. We may compete with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Not to restrict HEVC export to 6th gen processors.
Powerdirector has no such restriction and I have run other software that allows it, so whilst it is a slow process, it is not one restricted to 6th gen.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
I fully understand what Glenn is requesting. May I suggest that items may be selected into groups (similar to multiple frames in MS Publisher can be grouped/un-grouped). Then groups of video, sound, text, effects etc can be moved or deleted etc. Groups could be given a name to identify content ie "Falling Off Skateboard scene" Perhaps a group(s) could be selected and exported for inclusion in another video.Glenn in Chile wrote:Select multiple items across different tracks, copy, then drag to a place on the timeline not shown (to the end, say), and paste all copied items maintaining their relative positions. Can't be done now. Not even with one item. Copy and paste multiple items is not possible, however copy and paste one item is. But the copied item must be first dropped to a blank area on a track currently visible on the timeline, then picked back up and dragged to outside the visible timeline, then pasted. No direct copy and drag outside visible timeline is possible.

Improve Housekeeping
Examples:
1. If a music track has Audio Ducking for a speech track, if the speech track is deleted, then the Audio Ducking is also removed and the volume restored to default/or previous setting. Similarly, if the speech track is moved slightly, if audio ducking has been evoked for it, then the audio ducking also automatically moves a corresponding amount.
2. If you have done several takes for recording sound (microphone) and used one take, any unused are automatically deleted on close, or given the option to delete.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Why? Suppose I don't want to have deleted some of my recordings? This is giving too much control of the software over the user. Sorry. Not for me.
This is why you can easily remove the ducking. How much time is it going to take?
Grouping is a good.
To reset Audio Ducking is easy as right mouse click on the audio where it is placed. Simple.
While some automation in editing is good, there are some things I would choose not to automate, having the program deleting everything.
You do know that you can export parts of a video, if you want to use it in another video, yes? It's in the manual on page 29, and then go to Export.....

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Couldn't agree more with who posted this..
"More free NewBlue effects and transitions. I use to have NewBlue effects and transitions that I bought for my VS Ultimate X6 like 3D Explosion transitions and Light effects. Most of what I bought are no longer compatible with VS Ultimate X8, but surprisingly lots of them are with CyberLink PowerDirector" ...and I would add Adobe Premiere Elements -- BOTH CONSUMER GRADE EDITING PROGRAMS
I have purchased all of these in 32bit.. don't understand why NB won't update them to 64bit? They say they don't support consumer grade software products, but yet they do as mentioned above.
They also have how many? 7? New Blue Essentials Packages of filters that all work in Corel 64bit X9 -- why would they make those available for VS and not the transitions packages?!
It's a bit ironic to me that Corel provides a sampler pack of NB transitions in 64bit X9...( as well as many previous versions) what is a sampler pack?? to me it is a "come on", a lure or enticement to buy more, yet there aren't anymore to buy!!! SOMEONE TOOK THESE SAMPLER EFFECTS AND RECODED THEM FROM 32bit to 64bit to make a sampler pack, is it really so difficult to re code the rest of them and make it available?? I would buy them again if I had too... that is how valuable the are to me!
OR alternatively... if an arrangement cannot be made betw NB and Corel regarding these transitions, how about Corel re-vamping what they offer. The same basic, non- ( barely) customizable transitions have been part of VS for 10 years!! Both Power Director and Premiere Elements have a much wider selection. I know a lot of people, including myself don't always use a lot of transitions, but occasionally you are looking for something and the NB options are just sooooo much better.
There are often so many in consequential updates that are made from one version to another... the ability to include NB as a 3rd party add on is invaluable... there are so few offering for Corel... this would be a HUGE benefit... PLEASE PLEASE!

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Hi Ilene,
Have you tried using Vitascene Transitions, a few hundred transitions available or Adorage, in excess of 150 transitions available, many of those are far superior to any of those that New Blue have to offer.
Being a current Beta tester for Adobe Premiere and a previous Beta tester for PowerDirector, I can still say that VS is my preferred NLE, also many of the New Blue filters are not fully functional in Elements or PowerDirector as New Blue intended, which they are in VS, try using New Blue Stabilizer in Premiere, it's a disaster, you have no control whatsoever.Agreed that there is no 64 bit version of New Blue Stabilizer for VS, but Mercalli is a much better replacement.
VS is the only program that opens the New Blue control panel for editing.
New Blue have no intention of providing 64 bit versions of their transition packages for VS, (or any other package that does not already have 64 bit installers) your only option is to petition Corel to open dialog with New Blue to change their position and keep pestering them, then maybe things will improve

Vitascene and adorage are ok but really like the new blue. I like them simple and clean. Just dont get why they can do 64 bit for the samplers but not for others. Doesnt make sense. Its actualy poor ans misleading marketing. I dont want them to take them away of course, but there should be a dialogue to add more. Thanks for yoir input!
