How about the ability to create your own editable chapters list or create scenes like most commercial DVD. It may be me but all I can manage if I'm putting a music DVD together is use the Chapters template. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

VS is a video editing software and not DVD authoring software, it's better to keep this relation as such.Neil T wrote:How about the ability to create your own editable chapters list or create scenes like most commercial DVD. Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
You may be right but all people have different needs. Adobe Encore has it. Saying that, I do prefer Video Studio and would be much happier if I didn't have to switch between programs. And The DVDs I am referring to are made by me from the recording, editing and the final product. I always thought the idea of a video editing program was to be able to produce a finished product and VS does have a chapter facility, just not editable

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

How can you possibly compare Adobe Encore with VS, Encore is a specialist DVD Authoring software tool and is now only available with Premiere Pro CS, Adobe "end lifed"Neil T wrote:You may be right but all people have different needs. the standalone version of Encore a very long time ago, you cannot expect a video editing software program to perform the same as a specialist DVD authoring program.
Encore is aimed at the professional market and not us amateur video editors

Painting Creator is great for adding effects but would love the ability to add shapes that could be re-sized and then enhanced with other tools such as Customized Motion etc.
Yes you could draw these with Painting Creator but very difficult to get that perfect circle/square.
Something like the Shapes toolbar in MS Word.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Please, please, please bring back SmartSound! I realize that perhaps there was a financial reason for Corel to move to ScoreFitter, but as a 25-year retired veteran musician in the Army, ScoreFitter sounds well, simply awful. The instruments on ScoreFitter are rendered entirely using synthesizers and most likely the tracks are performed by a single individual. While the keyboardist is talented, this is NOT professional quality audio for video! The fake instruments sound cheezy at best.
SmartSound on the other hand uses actual live musicians, that is, actual guitarists, trumpeters, saxophonists, or violinists. It's like having a live band at your fingertips! As a long-time user of VideoStudio (back to the days when it was still owned by Ulead), SmartSound was one of the most amazing plugins that VideoStudio introduced some years back. And no, I don't work for SmartSound, but I do implore Corel to bring back SmartSound. If anything, at least bring it back to perhaps the Ultimate version of VideoStudio or as an optional add-in.

You are not the first and certainly will not be the last to request the return of SmartSound, the only workaround is if you have Sonicfire Pro installed, then you can still use SmartSound music, just takes a bit of extra effort

I consider mask and chroma key are important and therefore the FX cropping should be fully configurable (cross position co-ordinates).

I have PaintShop Pro X4 and I have the choice with the language. I'm not at my best in English and I work with the French language, but when someone refers to something in English, I appreciate very much to see what he means. If it is possible with a complex software like PaintShop, could it be with VideoStudio.

Same thing happened when Pinnacle switched to Scorefitter....but the outcry back "then" was very loud. We then got a plugin that we had to pay for, giving us Express Tracks instead of QuickTracks. Express Tracks is vastly superior to QuickTracks in use and handling.rguthrie wrote:Please, please, please bring back SmartSound! While agree with your assessment of the sound of Scorefitter (a lot of it sounds midi to me), it does have a place in the software. In Pinnacle Studio, I have both. Guess which one I use....

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Hi all,
As you will notice in many of suggestions I hit on the point of better handling/preventing of crashes. That seems to be my biggest issue with Videostudio.....
Some ideas I had for wish list items would be:
1) When Importing files that are not supported, or not the same settings as your project that it warns you.
- hoping this would help users with crashing issues
2) Have a manifest file for each project
- This would have helped me whenever I was halfway through a project and could not select a file to delete it from timeline because it would crash. If you could remove it from a manifest, then when you reloaded project you could continue.
3) Built in tools (From main screen) to deal with Action Cams and the ability to remove Fish-eye, etc.
4) Automatically split Audio track from video track (or at least show it split on screen), would save a few steps/clicks to muting
5) Be able to insert a clip/etc at the beginning of the timeline on Main track without having to move tracks to overlay and then back main track
- Could be accomplished by giving the option after inserting track to a specific time location, etc...
6) Support for more tracks
7) Maybe have a safe mode that helps user to remove/fix broken items in project, then once repaired go back into normal mode
Check available system resources before running preview/render and warn user that system resources/state won't support operation at this time, have them save work, restart, etc....

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
I have not experienced this using X9U. I've mixed 4K, 1080 and SD on same timeline an no crashes."ZMan079"Hi all,
As you will notice in many of suggestions I hit on the point of better handling/preventing of crashes. That seems to be my biggest issue with Videostudio.....
Some ideas I had for wish list items would be:
1) When Importing files that are not supported, or not the same settings as your project that it warns you.

I can delete any clip from any of the tracks with no problems. But I also do incremental saves.2) Have a manifest file for each project
- This would have helped me whenever I was halfway through a project and could not select a file to delete it from timeline because it would crash. If you could remove it from a manifest, then when you reloaded project you could continue.
There is lens correction in NewBlue Video Essentials II, a part of X9U. Not a cure-all, but helps.3) Built in tools (From main screen) to deal with Action Cams and the ability to remove Fish-eye, etc.
I'll pass on this one. Too easy to move clips around and losing sync.4) Automatically split Audio track from video track (or at least show it split on screen), would save a few steps/clicks to muting
Don't follow this one. I can put anything at the beginning of the main track (insert). I would like to be able to "group" clips together to move them as one.5) Be able to insert a clip/etc at the beginning of the timeline on Main track without having to move tracks to overlay and then back main track
- Could be accomplished by giving the option after inserting track to a specific time location, etc...
Curious to see a video you have done where you used all 21 tracks.6) Support for more tracks
What would be broken that can't be "repaired" on the timeline now?7) Maybe have a safe mode that helps user to remove/fix broken items in project, then once repaired go back into normal mode
Meeting the hardware requirements of the assets you want to edit, as given by Corel should solve this problem.Check available system resources before running preview/render and warn user that system resources/state won't support operation at this time, have them save work, restart, etc....

Re: support for 5.1 audio for xavc-s
Support more than stereo audio (2 channels AAC) for xavc-s rendering.
e.g. Support 6 channels (for 5.1) of AAC
As far as I know there is no support for AC3 audio in Sony's XAVC-S standard, but there is AAC audio support, and 6 channels of AAC can be assigned to represent 5.1 Vegas supports this. Something to add in for VSX10...
