Hi canuck, Yes. I've tried to get VS to point to my folders the best I can. But, it won't allow certain things. For instance, I can find no way in VS to have it place my .VSP files into my custom folder. It insists on putting them where it wants to. When I am finished with a project, and am ready to "Share" (create) it, VS will not let me change the path at that time, even though it has a path-option to do that right in the Share screen. So, I go ahead and create the .wmv file and when it's done --I move it to my custom folder, manually. That's the only way I can store it where I want it. Pain in the you know what. HA HA. Too many strange things in VS studio to suit me. But, I love the program. I just wish it had been thought-out more carefully when they designed it and offered more options for users who don't think exactly like they do. heh heh. I'm done with what I thought was going to be a simple wish for VS10. Oh, well.canuck wrote:You said you create custom folders in Windows and move your project files into those folders. Of course when you open the project, VS can then no longer find those files.
Did you add your custom folder also to the VS library?

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Old-friend, looks to me something wrong with your work method.
Why you keep changing various files path all over your system during a project?
This I don't understand
"VS will not let me change the path at that time, even though it has a path-option to do that right in the Share screen"
I have no issue changing the path of the rendered movie.

Like asik1, I just don't follow your work method and I don't understand your description of what you are doing.
" I can find no way in VS to have it place my .VSP files into my custom folder. It insists on putting them where it wants to." Exactly what are you doing here? Some specific, step-by-step description of your workflow would help us understand what you are doing.
VS allows your to place (Save AS) the project files (.VSP) into any folder you want. You can also create any output file created in Share to any folder you want.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Sorry folks. This has turned into a discussion/support forum and I never intended that! My original suggestion for VS10 is about the missing clips fiasco. It may be working for some of you, but it's not working for me in the way I would prefer it to work. That's why I suggested it to Corel. And, that's something only Corel can remedy, if they choose to. Time will tell.
Anyway, the discussion about "folders, paths, and work-flow preferences" seems to have resolved itself. I tried for days and it never changed paths. Then, without my trying anything differently than what I did before (since I didn't know anything else to try!), it began working properly. I don't know why.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
An easy way (or better-documented way) to install to a drive other than C:\ (which in my case is a small-ish SSD).
With X9 I could run the individual product installers and specify an install drive. X10 insists I run the master installer, which forces install to C:\

It's well documented culprit Doug, and many of us do not use X10 because of this.dougsyo wrote:An easy way (or better-documented way) to install to a drive other than C:\ (which in my case is a small-ish SSD).

Re: Issue with "Replace clip" and Missing items in Library
I'm quoting my own, earlier post:
I need to set the record straight on this issue. I found out only recently that it was an oversight on my part that caused me so much confusion. I didn't know what that 'oversight' was until recently. The oversight was that for some reason, or by accident, I had unchecked the options (which BrianCee's [earlier post in this thread with his included screenshots], showed it clearly). My mistake was thinking that VS was supposed to show that pop-up --all the time! It didn't dawn on me at that time to check my preferences settings. Mine were NOT checked! My mistake. Very sorry!
To lata: After I told you the following (see the red-colored-text), in an earlier reply to you, I guess everyone presumed that I already had those 'relink' options setup properly, so nobody suggested that I check them, specifically. If they did, I guess I missed it.
I've written this to let all of you know that the re-linking works (most of the time), now. The other issue I mentioned, related to VS's inability to display the name's of my custom folders in its path dialogs, accurately, still remains. VS won't display the actual name/path to my custom folders names, --even though now, it DOES place the VSP files into my desired custom folder.
Thanks again, everyone, for helping me.

Old_Friend wrote:Hi lata! Just to reiterate, usually, I do not get a pop-up with the name of the missing file. Neither do I see it offering to re-link when selecting or right-clicking ANY of the yellow icons in the Library (FAR RIGHT SIDE PANEL of the UI). Those yellow icons do not respond to anything I do with them. Items in the Timeline, do offer re-linking.lata wrote:Hi Old Friend
I think you are missing something when using Re-link. View the pop up panels carefully.
2 / From the Library --- provided the missing clips are in the same HD folder the program will relink all missing clips.
3 / The re-link panel shows the name of the clip as “Original file [E:\JAZZ TEST MCE\JAZZ CAM 01.MP4] doesn't exist.”
Then when we select re-link, the search panel shows the file name at the top as a reminder \ JAZZ CAM 01.MP4
If files are in different locations then re-link may be needed again.
When the re-link panel shows check that Relink Checking and Smart Search are selected
