I agree with you, everything is not all good. But at least there are quite a lot of exceptions very nice to use such as PiP (motion objects), Christmas frames, Halloween stuff, etc. . With over 650 000 free stuff, there are surely something nice to have. I work 95 % of the time with VideoStudio, but sometimes I insert what I want in a track of CyberLink, produce an AVI or MPEG that I use with VS.RobertOZ wrote:CyberLink do not provide any "free stuff" they only provide the means for video editors to upload their own creations for other users to download, there are thousands of videos available, most of which are absolute rubbish (with a few exceptions)

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
What I would like to see is professional tutorial on you tube. Like Cyber links Power Director University. While Gripps does a good job, he appears to have stopped making videos. When I find myself needing instruction on how to do something I turn to Gripps' older videos or Power Director University and see if what info they have can be applied to Video Studio. It would be nice to see Corel put out a 20 minute or so video on using Video Studio once a week. Also, they should be more advanced videos. There are enough "Getting Started" videos already. I know this doesn't really apply as a software wish but it seems to be something they could start with VS X10. Thanks

I think that sh9168 is right in his comments. Gripps is one of the best and used to have the most examplary videos, but he is no more in making video tutorials because he has too much to hand with his musculation studio (and it is his right to do so). I only hope that he comes back as he is THE BEST to explain/simplify EVERYTHING. As for studiobacklot.tv, we only have a certain days of trials ( something like a 45 days pass). Very interesting videos, but, from my point of view, not to Gripps' level. Even freedomearthmoon1 (https://www.youtube.com/user/freedomearthmoon1) has quit to produce videos after X6-7.
If we want more explanations/videos about any Corel products, we have to go on YouTube to get free videos and, quite often, more or better details on how to go about their products.

How about the ability to make sub folders for our media content or better yet just link to our windows folders.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
It is not necessary to use the folders in Videostudio at all - just use the folders in windows file explorer - where you can have as many folders and sub folders as you wish and then just drag and drop from Windows file explorer to Videostudio timeline

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Just to mention what has already been said:
1. I would also love to have more keyboard shortcuts in general. I am desparately looking for the switch between clip and project. Maybe I am missing something, but at the moment I always have to click with the mouse to switch between the both of them, and I would find it very convenient to have a shortcut for that.
2. Grouping elements in a project would really be a nice thing. I guess it is not that easy to implement, but it would really be great for me to so-to-say weld for example the voice-over clip with the subtitle clip, so once I have synchronized them they cannot accidentally be torn apart again. The same goes of course for other groups of objects, and yes, I alwawys use the ripple mode and it is very helpful, but sometimes it would be nice to have a group of objects to be kept in the same relative connection without necessarily having the first video clip as a "master".
Now, here is a new wish, and it is actually a bit audacious to demand that:
Subtitling.
As far as I know, VideoStudio is the only consumer program which offers the possibility of actually adding a subtitle track in your DVD/Blu-ray menu during the authoring, so the viewer can choose to have subtitles on or off.
I am very happy about this feature and I will not use any other program as long as this makes VideoStudio really unique (among all the other features I like about VideoStudio).
Even when I am working on a project, the possibilty to record a voice-over directly in the project is great, the possibility to call the subtitle function which (usually) creates the fill-ins for the subtitles correctly, helps enormously, and apart from my idea that Corel could integrate something like speech-recognition (like on your Google phone) I am very happy about all this.
So here comes my wish:
Would it be possible to "name" the language the subtitles are in? At the moment, when you play the disc on a conventional player, the menu will say something like "undefined". I would love it if it said "German" (or "English" or whatever), and - second wish - to be able to add more than one language.
Right now, I wouldn't give my Blu-rays to non-German speakers, as there is always a voice-over explaining things, and I guess they would simply be bored and left-out, watching them.
I know, this is asking a lot, because I think that only a small part of the VideoStudio users actually create their own subtitles, let alone in different languages, but I see a great chance there to show one's works of art to more people who will actually understand what's going on in the "movie" if they are hearing-impaired or do not know the spoken language.
So, my wish, and it's very close to Christmas now. I'm keeping fingers crossed.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
So, I have not gone through the wish list so my apologies if it's been mentioned.
I'm not sure if my terminology is correct so bare with me. I would really like it if I could "anchor" an element on one track with an element on another track. I.e. I might have some fancy text showing up or an FX... but if I move or add picture elements, the element on the other track will no longer be lined up.
In my previous software I could do this. Perhaps there is simply a different way to do it in this software - I'm just migrating over with my first major project now.
Anyway, thanks for listening!
Cheers!

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
It already exists. It is called ripple edit and tracks can be locked together using the padlock symbols at the left of the respective timelines. I suggest you refer to the User Manual.Techkey wrote:So, I have not gone through the wish list so my apologies if it's been mentioned.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Hi
I just realized that there is still one feature which I would simply like to be easier: 5.1 sound.
Since my first video camera with built-in 5.1 microphone I have been playing with it, but I never really grasped the idea that one point in the timeline is both reflecting the project and the object (clip).
What I mean is that the settings you make have to be "recorded" while in project mode, but they will be recorded INTO the single object. My suggestion would be to have some sort of "track" for 5.1 editing for each real track in the timeline, so that you can set the parameters, for example, right at the beginning of a project, regardless of a clip being right at the start or not - and it would keep those changes made for the sound of a single clip separate.
At the moment I do everything to make the settings right at the start, so that for example, background music actually plays more "background" than from the front speaker. However, as soon as the next clip for background sound is added and I change something on the clip (fade-in, fade-out), the settings for the surround sound are being overwritten.
My current solution is that I finish a project, generate one sound track file for each track plus the original video muted, and then create a new project with each track being one file only so that I can set the surround position of background music and commentary without any of it changing during the "movie".
I find that a step too much - however, I do this because it is the only way at the moment.

... and I have a wish for the wishlist
Would it be possible to have a chart with ideas, and the users to "give their vote" on them (like "important", "less important", "nice to have", "no good idea at all")? I don't know about the technical possibilities, but I guess it would be helpful to see all suggestions already mentioned in one place, and then you can make another post with a new idea.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Can we please be able to insert a value over the max that a slider/drop down menu will allow? Rounding it to the nearest integer?
Complaining about this because I've recently moved from making my videos in 720p to 1080p, and the max size for fonts is still 200. So now my text that used to take up a chunk of the screen can barely appear unless I always keep it maxed out. This is annoying.
And I can't zoom in as far as I could because I'm using a bigger file format.

I wish if there is an aption to modify many tracks on the timeline, as when I work on separate tracks with modifies speed I have to modify it one by one.
