Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Not sure if it's been mentioned here or not, but:
The Splash Screen!!
Surely it can be changed to be able to be moved, and have the standard restore/minimize gadgets added. It'd also be great if you could exit it for those times you've accidentally clicked on it and don't really want to run the program at all. Exiting straight away rather than having to wait ages (the more fonts you've got installed the longer it takes) to be able to exit.

may already been mentioned.
the ability to do a multible fit a picture to screen. and keep the aspec the same. so Highlight a number of pictures that are say 4.3 then with one or two clicks fit them to a 16.9 screen with no distorsion or black edges. that would speed up slide show type videos so much!

Philosophically you are correct, but VS has instant projects that can help you do just that.fungus wrote:may already been mentioned.

that is a physical impossibility - can't be done - if you want a 4:3 to completely fill a 16:9 screen without any distortion you must be prepared to lose top/bottom or a bit of each from the 4:3
this is a 4:3 image at the correct aspect ratio
making that image fully fit a 16:9 screen gives this
the distortion is obvious - the young lady has put on a lot of weight - how can you make one into the other without loosing part of the image or creating distortion

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
yep thats the problem. however when you take the pictures you can take the loss of image in to account. I do a lot of picture of cars and i like to have a bit of movement when I use the pictures in a video. with that in mind I alway take 4:3 ratio picture and them apply a zoom or pan to the Picture in a 16:9 video. that works fine. what I was getting at is if VS had a button to "fit to screen" that worked on multible selected images it would be so much easier to use. plus if there was the ability to ajust the section on the image in veiw, that would be even better. I know its from another editing package but somthing like below.BrianCee wrote:fungus wrote:may already been mentioned.

click on the Fit button. then crop on the drop down list and the picture is crop automaticly without distortion. (ok you lose some of the picture) this can be done on multible images at once.
but then you can got to the properties for Crop and ajust which part of the image you wish to show.
once you have done that a pan or zoom can be applied and again you can ajust that in the properties.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
Hi fungug
Well yes Video Studio can do that, I am sure Brian will agree and comment here---but you specified to keep the aspect the same without loosing detail, at least that’s how I read your post.
But VS can resize the image to fill the screen, many options to do that
Customise Motion is probably the best option, here you can resize and pan/zoom with the same tool.
Right click your clip and choose customise Motion.
Once you have applied to the first clip, right click for Copy attributes.
Then Shift + Click last clip to select all, right click for paste attributes.
Effect added to all clips.
Maybe you are best to take 16:9 aspect images, they will fit your video and allow any pan/zoom.
Video Studio Fit to screen options
1 / Place image in overlay track, with clip selected right click preview screen for options
2 / with clip in top track – double click to open options panel – Attributes Tab for Distort clip - right click preview screen for options

Hi fungus
Default Photo duration can be set via Preferences (F6)- edit tab
Also from timeline Shift + Click to select all images – Right click selection for Change Photo Duration
Maybe you should post to the Video Studio forum to discuss editing techniques rather than the wishlist, especially when these options exist.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
At great effort and trial-and-error, I offer the following as a desperate plea for am extremely simple feature addition. I have posted this elsewhere on this forum and would LOVE to see this added to VSX, as it would be an extremely exciting feature to add with what I wold expect would be only a few lines of code since this involves little more than adding new default profiles to the product:
60P BluRays Are Possible And Supported: Though 60P is not part of the official BluRay standard, the dirty little secret is that most good quality bluray players will actually play 60P blurays just fine because despite the bluray standard, companies like Sony, Samsung and Panasonic ignored it and added the capability anyway. The problem is actually being able to create the discs. It can be done, but sadly, here's where it gets ugly: You have to ditch Corel VideoStudio and use Cyberlink's PowerDirector 12 or above, which allows you to make us of the very clever "TurnOnBD1080P" hack, which allows you to produce BluRays in 60P. And yes, it works very well, as most high quality BluRay players actually play 60P discs, and this can be found in their detailed product information. 60P bluray players have been around at least since 2011. Allow me to illustrate by including something I pulled off of the thread that contains the hack:
"Virtually all new BR players will play a 1920x1080 60P 28Mb w/o problems. Sony, Panasonic, Samsung , all have firmware updates that enable 60P on some of their older models. Mine is a over 3 year old Samsung BD-C5500 and after updating the firmware over a year ago plays 60P perfectly. I have burned at least 50 different BR disks with this format and they play w/o problems in our neighborhood on players that are up to two years old. " (http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/30115.page)
AVCHD 2.0 Blu-Ray Burning Capability: If you want to stay compliant with all standards and keep 60P and also keep it at 1080, and also keep 5.1 DD, then creating AVCHD 2.0 discs is your only option. Most players support these discs now, so this is a safe disc format. However, good luck producing an AVCHD 2.0 BluRay - you can't - this is a DVD-only standard. Sucks, huh? The only way around this is to jump through some hoops to eventually be able to re-burn everything onto a BlueRay. Go ahead and open up a quick project in VSX and try to create an AVCHD Bluray. You can't. And PowerDirector has the same limitation.
Attention Corel: Wanna stick it to CyberLink? Add both 1080/60P BluRay and AVCHD 2.0 BluRay burning to VideoStudio's next release.
Thanks for reading

Hi highwinder, I never did BR or shoot 60P but form the cyberlink thread I learn that the procedure is not part of PD but an external utility. If so what prevent you for using it as well?

I like this idea very much! It's something I would use quite often.marcinbond wrote:Pls ad multi color chroma key
(ability to ad multiple chroma keys on the same video clip)
If it would work on static images (.png, .jpg, etc., while they're placed onto an Overlay Track), as well as videos, it would be even more useful. Many bitmap images often have multiple areas (different colors) which could be made transparent. Having to leave VS to run the GIMP® program to modify the static bitmap images takes a lot of extra time. Having the feature in VS would allow viewing of any/all changes [in real-time] to both the video chroma key changes and the chroma key changes to the static images, as well.

Re: Wishlist for VideoStudio X10
CyberLink do not provide any "free stuff" they only provide the means for video editors to upload their own creations for other users to download, there are thousands of videos available, most of which are absolute rubbish (with a few exceptions)
