Video Studio Won't Open -- After Windows Update?

Hi,
I am just trying to solve this strange issue with an easier way , if any.
Uninstalling / re-installing the program is my last solution and believe that it works.
I re-installed the HotFix for CVSX8 and run it without any problem.
But, nothing changes.....

One question :
I already removed 3 patches ( as KB 3134814 , KB3126587 and KB 3126593 ) in Windows 7
Then , I installed and run the patch of HotFix for CVSX8.
But those 3 patches were not existing anymore.
Does hotfix help ?

I do not know what else to suggest.

If you have reset the program by re-naming the 18.0 folder and installed the Service Packs and Hotfix the next option is to try a re-installation.

The only other cause could be a virus or malware on your pc.

Do you have any software showing in Program and Features similar to Browser Protect, Browser conduit, Search Protect etc most will affect your pc function.

Is your PC upto date with all windows updates?

As I say not sure what else to suggest?

Hi

The uninstall of windows updates were the first solution in getting the program to run.

Then Corel provided the Hotfix for X7, X8, and X9 disc version so once that is installed the program should run ok, and windows updates can be set to auto to install all updates.

If you have hidden the three updates then can be un-hidden and will install again.

If you re-install X8 you will have to apply the hotfix for the program to run.

Ok good news!! My windows reconfigured after about an hour (whew!) and windoes restarted and X7 relaunched successfully!

The windows updates that we removed are

kb3134814

We removed this first and it was unsuccessful on its own

Then we removed

Kb3126587 and kb3126593

One of these 2 did the trick -- or who knows, all 3 together??

For now... I've disabled automatic updates and will download 9 as soon as my current project is complete.

They are "absolutely not" at this point creating a patch for other versions -- which is really unfair as it forces everyone to upgrade. Im happy to upgrade but on my own time and i personally like having older versions on my computer!

But im happy at least for today im back in business

I should not need to modify my computer to get Corel software to to work. Simply put Corel products are a pita. Annoying Pop-up windows at start up. Just launch the application. $100 bucks a year every time they add a word to the title of a app. Again, I will NOT modify my system to get Corel products to work. Every app I have coded works w/o my users need to modify their systems.

Did you ask Microsoft why they updated your system so that many programs no longer work?

What popups when launching the program? I don't get any

An old chestnut with a twist.

I have Video Studio Pro x8 on my laptop and encountered (and easily fixed this problem) . I have now installed X5 on my desktop (again Windows 7) and it won't open. OK, I thought, I'll just delete and hide updates kb3126587 and kb3126593, which I did, and still it won't open............any thoughts?

Two computers with Windows 7.

Family computer : Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X4, X5, X6 installed. None would start after many Windows Update May 12th, 2016.
Main computer : Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8. It started even after same updates , but MOV clips couldn't be inserted, GIF clips didn't play, SWF Flash animation showed black in Preview Window and VS refused to insert them in Timeline, mentioning it could not play them .

Microsoft Window security KB3153171 removed. Everything's back to normal on both computers .

i Like Corel VideoStudio Pro X9
but the Only Bad news is you Cant make a 4096 Video & you only get 30 Frames per Second & not 60+
only Corel VideoStudio Pro X7 has the 60 Frames per Second & they Also have 4096 Video Resolution...
