Success!! ... In addition to uninstalling updates KB3126587 and KB3126593, uninstalling KB3140410 has allowed X5 to run.

Until the next Windows Update, The Horse Lives

Ilene,
1 Could not open VS (like every one else)
2 Uninstalled the 2 updates
3 Stopped auto updates
4 Hid the 2 updates
5 Applied the hotfix
6 Restored the 2 updates
7 Returned to auto updates

Hi Everyone,

I had same issue. I have not used Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 since last year and decided to open it up today. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. It would not open and received the Microsoft error popup saying it was looking for a solution and had following in application event log "Faulting application vstudio.exe, version 14.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4e787784, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6002.19594, time stamp 0x56ac29c4, exception code 0xc06d007e, fault offset 0x0003fdb6, process id 0x14a4, application start time 0x01d17be9cdceb545".

Went through uninstall of Corel, failed and also attempted a start in safe mode. No go.

Then I found this post.

All Feb 2016 Updates:
Action:
Kb3126587: Removed first and rebooted. Tried and received Corel VideoStudio Pro has stopped working.
kb3126593 - Removed this patch and rebooted and it is now working.

I did not uninstall kb3134814 at any stage. I think this is an IE 9 update.

Thanks to your assistance and appreciate the posts as I could have spent hours on this!

Regards
Alex

I have similar issues as everyone else here, except I have removed both MS patches, and (per instructions of Corel Support) uninstalled and reinstalled X8 several times. Even with the MS patches removed, VS8 will not start without the hotfix for VS8, but when I apply the hotfix, I can no longer work with .SWF or .MOV files. Does anyone know a fix for this yet?

Hi testearns

Can you make sure that the Windows Updates have been uninstalled and have not re-installed.
You should hide the updates to prevent them from installing again.

However with the updates installed you should be able to install CVSX8
The program will not start.
Now apply the Corel VideoStudio X8.5 Hotfix 2
http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/suppor ... sion-tab=1

The program should start and work without problems.
The program will then prompt you to install the service Pack SP3.
View Help - Check for updates, the version number should now be 18.6.0.6 ( Help About)

To test SWF is working ok go to the Graphics library, Flash animation
Do the SWF clips work or give errors.

By the way have you installed QuickTime and the latest version of Flash Player?

Trevor-
I have verified the two offending MS updates are removed, and hidden from being reinstalled. I have download/installed and verified that I have the latest QT and flash players.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled VSX8 multiple times now. My process is:
-Uninstall leaving personal settings
-reboot
-reinstall main 64bit package
-reinstall bonus content
-reinstall content
-reinstall blue ray patch
-install SP1
-Install Sp2
-Install 8.5 Hotfix
-Install Boris Hotfix
-Install SP3
At this point the application will not start, this is without the MS updates installed.
-Install the new hotfix
At this point the application will start.
-swf files will not work at all. They throw a file format mismatch error. This is the same error that started with .mov files after applying the hot fix.
-Another item to note, the paths of all of the .swf files in the library are really weird. Some are in %programfiles%\X7, some are in E:\P4.... I do not even have an E drive.

Up until the MS patch and the hotfix to fix the MS patch, the program was working great. Since both of these issues, I cannot use any GoPro videos (.MOV format) or any .SWF files.
Is there a special way to purge everything and start over that way? Am I just out of luck with this?
-Terry

Hi Terry

You should try uninstalling and removing the Personal settings.

First try resetting the program by re-naming the folder 18.0 to 18.0_old

C:\Users\Trevor\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\18.0

A new folder will be created when starting the program, hopefully.

The 18.0 folder is hidden, add %appdata% to the start search box to locate the roaming folder.

More info on my web site.
http://lata.me.uk/corel/reset/reset.htm

The 18.0_old folder will contain your library structure, if you need that you may be able to copy the library media files over to the new 18.0

I am away for a few days so wont be on the forum as much

Oh
If you have to re-install , only install Hot Fix 2 to get the program running, then allow the program to auto update to Sp3.

Got the same problem, i bought the upgrade as soon as it was availlable and now till March 10 it stop working when on 11 march I open my comp. and the X8 version stop a day after what a s.....
I was working on a project and now i'm stop and can't work anymore its frustrating and don't understand why Corel don't take seriously this problem , cause they respond me that another one will contact me and it seems as your comments that its a large problem and the only way to do is wait ?????????? is it possible for a so much good compagnie to not correspond better with their customers,
I never had much problem with all my Corel software nor upgrade except some little fancy things.
Another problem with VSP X5-6-7-8-9 is we can't recuperate our library, it takes me more than 3 hours to place everything i want in it ,I don't understand why they can'tdo a file to Import/Export our own library .

Thanks

For LeGrand : You can Export/Import your Library. I never had to import it, therefore I don't know if once exported you get everything back like before after importing it. See page 40 of : http://www.corel.com/static/product_con ... ide_EN.pdf

Here is a fix for my recent VS6 not opening after windows update a few days ago. When I removed KB3140410 (28mb update) then VS6 opened normally. The last time win update stopped my VS6 from opening was the middle of Feb and thankfully the post in here about the 3 KB's at fault did the trick (KB3134814, KB3126587, KB3126593). windows 7 pro OS. Thank you

Ilene wrote:Ok good news!! My windows reconfigured after about an hour (whew!) and windoes restarted and X7 relaunched successfully!

The windows updates that we removed are

kb3134814

We removed this first and it was unsuccessful on its own

Then we removed

Kb3126587 and kb3126593

One of these 2 did the trick -- or who knows, all 3 together??

For now... I've disabled automatic updates and will download 9 as soon as my current project is complete.

They are "absolutely not" at this point creating a patch for other versions -- which is really unfair as it forces everyone to upgrade. Im happy to upgrade but on my own time and i personally like having older versions on my computer!

But im happy at least for today im back in business

Good luck all!!

I hope I'm doing this correctly... :)

Dude....!!!!!!!!!! It Freaking Worked.... Thank you so much. I found all 3 updates, removed & rebooted. Turned off Updates. x7 Pro User.

THANK YOU AGAIN.... I was Like WTF... hahahahahahahaha.
