My VS ProX8(5 or whatever!) is working. Thanks for letting me know I did not have to remove those Windows updates. But the one question I have now is, do I need to install the older fixes/updates: Boris Graffiti, CVS Service Pack 1, CVSX8.5 upgrade? I had downloaded them (and others) when this mess started, and now I don't want to add something that would upset the apple cart.

Now I am going to the forum and see if someone has a good tip on getting loud foreground clicking out of a video that was taken with a refurbished smartphone (got rid of that one!). I have tried those special noise reduction options in VS and have had no luck. I have my fingers crossed!

If you purchased it as X8.5 then SP1 andSP2 would have been included - you have lust added SP3 and the hotfix so the fact you have the very latest version number indicates you are up to date and do not need to add anything.

Everytime I exited X5, X6, X7 or X8 there was a pop-up message with a link to upgrade to X9. Perhaps you turned off this messaging.

I had this problem, so did what was recommended here, and uninstalled updates 3126587 and 3126593. Windows "update" put them right back on within 24 hours. I could only boot It for a couple of hours
HOWEVER --

I had another problem, I can "browse" for mpg and I can't bring them into Video Studio timeline. I tried dragging them, but nothing happened. I tried looking up the mpg and right clicking and choosing "open with" and choosing Video Studio, and it did not work. I am using Pro X4
Is that related to the update problem?

I have VS X4. It was working for me perfectly until MS did that security updates. I removed the Kb3126587 and kb3126593 files and it's working now, sort of. I can drag and drop any MTS files for editing but MOV files are not working at all. I dragged and dragged but it wouldn't drop. I did some search and found a Youtube video to fix the MOV problem by copying the QTCT.dll file and paste it in the Windows folder. I did just that but it didn't do the trick for me. I never had any problems with using MOV files with X4 until now. I wonder if this has anything to do with the two files being deleted. Any suggestions?

Thanks all for help with this. I didn't want to move to WIN 10 because I have a virtual xp window in my present WIN 7 installation, and MS has eliminated the virtual window in 8 and 10. I am using three applications that will only run on xp, and I would be very sad to not have them anymore. I followed advice and removed the two security updates, and found I was able to open VSProX7. However, every time I rebooted the security updates came back. I read a bit further, removed the updates, and then hid them. All well once again. I read even further and applied the VSX7 hotfix, then unhid the two security updates and reinstalled them. VSX7 is back to whatever passes for normal. Thanks again.

I also had downgraded to version 8 and as things like auto music and blue ray authoring were missing I still use version 4 and 5 but now these wont open. Are they going to publish a hot fix for these?

Versions 4 and 5 are about 15 years old and will never be updated neither will version 8 which must be around 10 years old

The same is also true of versions X4 and X5

hotfixes have only been issued for X7 and X8 and Corel will not be patching any thing older than that

or you could upgrade to X9 which is now available

I assume you mean CVSX4 and X5, if you need Smart Sound Auto Music then you only have two options

1 / Purchase CVSX7 probably still available on the internet somewhere?
2 / Uninstall the two windows updates and hide them, X4 and X5 will run again

For those who only want to uninstall these updates temporarily, create and run this batch file.

The removal will take effect at the next boot.

The two updates will be restored in the boot after that.
