VSX7 Cursor changes to a + and project freezes

My cursor changes to a double sided cross, can be moved around but nothing responds to it.It has happened before on odd occasions when I have either closed VS via the task manager or closed the PC and on opening up VS after that things have carried on normal for some time.But now it happens a few seconds after opening up and so VS has become unusable..Just before the last freeze, I was trying to get back to where I was the last time(7 mins, near the end on the project so far) and it froze again so I restated the PC.On opening up VS again it was frozen, as I type this, the tool tip for the time code "Timecode:Click to go to a specific timecode" is showing on the PC monitor with a black ground.So has any one have an answer to this problem please.

I have done a disc clean on both hard drives,a full system scan, updated Java and restarted several times.So far I am am back in business, hope it lasts
