Recovering shadow detail in PSP X8 Ultimate

Anyone else experiencing problems recovering shadow details in PaintShop Pro X8? I also see a weird color cast (usually green) affecting numerous pics. I have noticed these issues especially since Corel released an update to PSP X8 a few months ago. Just to make sure i am not doing something wrong, I re-installed PSP X7, edited the same images and the difference is night and day. The problematic pics look a lot better now.

I'm still using X6, but from your comparisons I'd have to say the X8 update messed things up- read the other threads regarding the update-http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=58329 and http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=58193

Many users have had a variety of problems with the first release of the update. Some were solved by removing temporary files -http://howto.corel.com/en/c/How_to_remo ... tem_issues

Others just uninstalled X8 with SP1 and reinstalled original program without the update.
