Hi
I have had PSP X8 for awhile now. I would like to know where to store all the PSP files like brushes etc.
In the Program Data are folders numbered Corel_01, Corel_02 right to Corel_15. I put all my PSP files in those folders and had all kinds of trouble so took them all out of those and put them in Documents/Corel/18 in their respective folders. Why do they have 2 places for files and which one should we be using. Thanks for any help.

The folders Core_01, 02, etc. are for the resources that PSP comes with. The Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/18.0 are for your own custom resources. Things you download from third parties or make yourself. When you export a brush or save a gradient directly inside PSP it writes those resources to these folders.
You can also add folders of your own if you don't like the organization Corel gives you. You can do this in the File Locations dialog found in File -> Preferences -> File Locations.

Oh ok. That makes sense. So I shouldn't use those folders for my own personal things. Got it. Thank you so much.
I have searched everywhere for answers to this with no luck.
Thank you again so much.

I have always wondered why there are the two different locations also. So are you saying that the Documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/18.0 folders do not get removed if the program is uninstalled?LeviFiction wrote:The folders Core_01, 02, etc. are for the resources that PSP comes with. And further to add that if two versions share the documents folders that they are not over written.
X2 and X3 share the same folders Brushes... etc in the My PSP files in the documents folder. When X3 was installed it did not overwrite and erase files already present in those folders from the X2 use.
In absence of further information from the regular uninstallers I would say that you are guaranteed to have the Corel_01, 02 folders removed and over written with an uninstall/ install whereas those in the Documents folder may or may not.

I don't believe those folders traditionally are deleted on uninstall. But at the same time I would highly recommend backing up any personal items just in case they ever get corrupted or accidentally deleted anyway. I don't keep any of my own brushes and things so I've never paid any attention.
