Windows 10 and Plugins.

Post by toetapping »

I have windows 10 and finding some plugins not working that did in windows 8.1.

Two that come to mind are Medhi and Galaxy plugins.

They are in my plug in folder. I go Preference/File Location. Put in it there and when I go back to PSP they doesn't show up.

So then I decided perhaps I should try Filters Unlimited 2.0/Import. I get the message "No or invalid filter Factory plugin.

Also did FM Patcher and Plugin Commander Light.

All my dllls are in the correct folder. C:\Windows\SysWow64 folder

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it.

Thanking you.

Hiya,

Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of Plugin Galaxy from The Plugin Site? http://www.thepluginsite.com/products/p ... index2.htm
They claim the plugin should work with Windows 7 and 8, so should work in 10. It is also compatible with a 64-bit OS.
If importing in FU doesn't work, have you tried to copy the plugins straight into the database file?

On my system Mehdi plugins work fine. Last update on their site was in 2013. Again worth a try downloading a fresh copy?

I had the same problem - make sure the dll files are also in the system32 folder - the older plugins are 32bit. There is information out there that suggests you do not need the dll files with win10 - I, and others, have found that we needed them.

Hi Zantara. Would you mind explaining to me how to put the plugins straight into the date base. Don't want to mess it up. Went to the site suggested and downloaded. Version 3.09

Server 1: PluginGalaxy3Demo.exe (5.38 MB)

Hi Karabei. I have put the dlls in both now. Downloaded fresh plugins for both.

Sorry to say both are still not working..

Agreed. To ensure best compatibility the dll's should be in both the System 32 folder and the WOW folders. And there is no harm in having them all in both folders even if not all of them are necessary in each folder.

Thank you for all your help but still can't get them to work.

I am not sure how to copy the plugins straight into the database file.

Would appreciate some advice on what to do. Thank you.

Hi toetapping,

* Copy the plugins you want to use in Filters Unlimited. You might want to copy the whole folder if they contain the name of the plugin.
* Find the database file of Filters Unlimited here: C://Program Files(x86) > Filters Unlimited 2.0 > ICNET-Filters.db and paste the plugins into this file.

Thank you for your reply. I think I have messed things up here.

I put some plugins into the data base through filters unlimited by just pressing data base, which I didn't see before and now I can't get back to the original page IC Net filters.

Hopefully you can help me or do I have to reinstall the whole programme.

Hi Toetapping,
If you open PSP and go to FU, you just click again on the Database button.
You should see the originial database listed. By clicking on it should open automatically.
ZV_FU.png
If not, go to Open en find the original database
ZV_FU2.png
ZV_FU2.png (2.6 KiB) Viewed 18238 times
By clicking on it, it should load in FU

I know this is an older post that I am replying to, but I am having the same problem.
I have followed the steps by putting my plugins in both the system32 and the wow folders. I have tried to import DBS plugin into Filters unlimited.
It's not accepting it.
I have noticed that Filters unlimited uses the .ffx file extension, and the DBS Flus uses the .8bf file extension.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this plugin to work on Windows 10?
Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

Have you just tried putting your plug-in into this folder?: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018\PlugIns\EN

It wasn't suggested that you put your plugins into those folders. Those are the folders in which you are supposed to put the extra DLL files that some older plugins rely on. The plugins should be installed in either the default folders that the plugin installer suggests (if there is such a suggestion or installer) or in the folder that Ken has mentioned.

I have another question, if that is okay. My favorite version of PSP is 9. I have tried everything to get 9 to work. I know it is a very old version, but I would really like to use it.
I can get it installed, but when I click on it to run it, is just sits there, and does nothing.
It shows it's running in the task bar.
